Need Help Replacing an Axle

I already have my axle, new tranny fluid, and my trusty Helms Manual. I've read through the proceedure, and it doesn't sound difficult. My problem is that the manual says I need to "separate the lower arm from the knuckle using a puller with the pawls applied to the lower arm". Now, I don't have a puller, and I was wondering if there was a way to separate the lower arm without having to use a puller?

i used a puller, i didnt have one i went out and got one it wasent that expensive but it was kinda wierd using it, it took acouple times to get it right, after you get that off its not that difficult, do you already have the wheel spindle nut off?

I haven't started replacing the axle yet 'cause I wanted to make sure I had everything I need to do the project, but it sounds like I should go buy a puller.

OK i unbolted the top A arm, and the hub nut. then podded the axels out of the tranny (oops i guess i used a crow bar also) then pulled the other side of the axel out of the hub and then wiggled it out away form the car.....
