This is really bad, and i really need help..cv-axle is dis-connected.

The half-shaft/cv-axle is dis-located from my transfer case!!!!
I can see the axle just hanging on to the transfer case
please i really need some serious advice
besides bringing to the mechanic.

How could ths happen?
Is my transfer case toasted, did all the tranfer case fluid leaked?
Did my transfer case get contaminated?
Should i draind and refill the Fluids?
Whats gonna happen to the transfer case?
Any advise, comment or suggestion is greatly apreciated!

I also hear a clunking noise everytime i shift into reverse, and its been like this for like a year already...Am i screwed, i can't afford a new transfer case or transmisson..

Re: This is really bad, and i really need help..cv-axle is dis-connected.

Need more explanation.
Exactly what where is disconnected? Im hoping youre not saying that your cv came apart and you are driving around missing a half shaft and a loose peice of steel is waiting to fall from your front diff.

As far as the noise while shifting into reverse I would ask this: Have you looked at your engine mounts lately? Im guessing one of the two if not both is totally ripped in two peices and the motor bangs when you put it in reverse.
Just get a jack under the harmonic balancer with a board on it and lift er up a little. If the motor mounts are intact the whole front of the truck will start to lift. If its a motor mount or two it will be very evident where the fault lies.

Now if you do have a bad motor mount post here and myself or someone else here who has done it will explain all you will need to know.

Relax every part of that truck can be fixed. It just takes time and money.

Re: This is really bad, and i really need help..cv-axle is dis-connected.

hey thanks for kind words, i am def. going to be relaxing...
I brought in to the mechanic and the bill came to 900.00...
Silly me i thought the CV-axle was connected to the transfer case,

Yeah the mechanic told me that the differential is gone because i drove the truck for too long while the CV-axle was bad,

The Cv-axle was not totally connected to the diff. somehow it mange to fall out a quarter of the way, and i think i been driving like that for a almost a year.

Does 900.00 sounds about right for a reman. cv-axle and used diff. ???

I was def. freaking out this morning, but now that i am 900.00 broker, i can spend the nex two week at home eating cereal.

and def thanks for your supportive reply.

Re: This is really bad, and i really need help..cv-axle is dis-connected.

$900 doesnt seem to bad if there doing all the labor.
I have never bought a front diff before but I would guess somewhare in that range. If you really wanted to check up on it just browse around the net and maybe call a few pick and pulls to see what they would charge.
You also have to figure they will have at least %10 mark up on any part they sell to you. Then around $60 an hour I think is standard mechanic labor charge.

I try to do everything myself if I can. Dropping the diff and swapping out a front axle actually isnt that difficult to do yourself.

Good luck.

Re: This is really bad, and i really need help..cv-axle is dis-connected.

CV axle rebuilt less than $100 but ask why the front diff needs replacing - is the case a mess at the bearing where the CV goes in - if not replace the seal if required and the CV axle - free to ask. Shops around $70-90 now per hour for labor now. Do not know what year or mileage but front diff is not cheap and I ask cause this relates to the front bearings or hubs needing replacement and the lower ball joints while the front is apart.

haha, i have to to admit i am chick-shit and will freak-out like crazy...
changing the the front diff is def. out of the question, haha, tho i do like a challenge but i just don't have the time and space to do that sort of work.

i checked on rock auto, cv-axles are like 50 bucks plus core but what the hell i think the mechianic is good, and honest, he's gonna be the guy i will be going to if my trucks needs a doc.

Thanks forum BROs...

P.S and 900.00 includes change the one PIA spark plug that i totally have no luck on haha...

I'll be getting rid of a front diff soon, and really don't think that I'll get much coin for it. They aren't desirable here, since people are switching to solid axle front ends (Like my plans include)

But to be perfectly honest he's doing a job that I wouldn't want to do, and I don't think that he's charging all that much. Ask him how much he'll charge if you can find the diff on your own. (I know where there might be 1 in BC Canada for a good price pulled already, and there might be some close to you as well)

I like Rock Auto, and think that $50.00 is a really good price for the cv axle, but a GM product might outlast your Blazer but the aftermarket 1 probably won't
