I have noticed that every once and a while the transmission slips when you start out from a stop light or stop sign. At first I thought the problem was just in my head, but my wife noticed it this morning also. I have checked the transmission fluid and the level seems fine. Any suggestions. The vehicle has 70,000 highway miles on it. Thanks for your help!

Have you ever had the filter and fluid replaced? Transmission is nothing to mess with take it to the dealer and ask them to check it out!

This is a problem with the computer program that controls the tranny. The dealer can flash it with a software update that may eliminate the problem.

Re: 2000 Silverado Transmission?

It'd be nice if it's due to a software problem. Honestly that sounds unlikely to me, but (everything is so electronically dependent these days) who knows. I'd appreciate any other info. that might be helpful. Thanks - Johnny Mac |

The transmission on my '01 K2500 started slipping.....then it got to where it would "hit" or tap as it was driven. I took it to the dealer and they checked it out. Turns out that I needed a new transmission. I only had 30K on the original. After fighting with GM for about a week, they agreed to replace it at their expense. They said the "retaining cover" had come off and distroyed the transmission. Have your dealer check it out, it could save you a lot of hassel and $$$$.
