11 Second Mustang
Let's talk raw power here, I am really getting tired of all of these Rice Burners claiming that their 4 cyl and 6 cyl are so much better than Ford's Pony car.
Example, I just got into street racing a few months ago after getting some experience at Moroso... I went to an under ground street race, my first one and put my money up. Almost all of the cars were rice burners and most were pimped out with nein and chrome, I just had to laugh to myself... I showed up at this race with my 1991 Ford Mustang LX 5.0. The looks and remarks I got from the race ground were down right rude and annoying... One guy who had a tricked out Honda Civic with NOS made the remark that I should just give him the money instead of racing him and wasting his time. He said my car had no play and was going to get smoked. He was the first I raced this night. the race was being held at an old reginal airport that had been shut down some time ago... The distance was marked off and the race began, We pulled to the line his car sounding like a whaling cat and my flowmasters rumbling... The race started, he beat me off the line, but I soon passed him when my car hit 3500 rpms, then he must of hit a NOS shot because he had a burst of speed and we were neck and neck, my car huffed thru it's supercharger and then it was over I beat him by at least three car lengths.. After the race he was not talking trash anymore, he just paid me my money then left, The second race was against a STi which was a long way from stock, and this was not race at all. All this Sti saw was my tailights, the third race of the night was against a guy who had a Eclispe fully worked, He was telling me that he had a 10 second car and wanted to race me for all the money I had won this night. I agreed, and in the end I beat him by a single car length, Three races three wins and a few hundred richer, not a bad night... After all the racing all of the rice burners came over and wanted to see what I had under the hood, I showed them and they could not believe I could beat the Eclispse, who was the race favorite. The look on the rice burners faces' was classic... The Mustang was the king this night... I went back a couple weeks later and I could not get any action but a few guys who were driving rice burners were now driving mustangs.. I just sat back and enjoyed the races with a smile... My Mustang Mods are Coast High Performance 347 short block, new b-303 FRRP cam, Ported GT 40 intake and GT 40 aluminum heads, 1.7 rockers, 77mm Mass Air, 70 mm Throttle body, 30 pound injectors, a new 9 PSI ATI Pro charger with intercooler, Mac Shorty Headers, Flowmasters, Art Carr Street/Strip AOD transmission, 3:73 gears...18inch Cobra R Rims and Nitto tires, 5 Lug conversion and 4 wheel disk brakes. Best Quarter Mile time 11:17 at 118 MPH at Moroso race track in Oct 2003 Last edited by 1Quick91; 12-17-2003 at 05:06 PM. |

couple words of advice...
never say: street race, NOS (say N20, unless you are refering to the company which would then be N.O.S). but a nice story indeed. just curious what would ur redline be? |

Re: 11 Second Mustang
Good story. STi = Subaru, not Honda. Eclipse = Mitsubishi, not Mazda. But with a car as fast as yours, I guess you don't get to see the backside of many other cars.
