Me personally, I don't race much of anything. I sure as hell wouldn't race a mustang even if I had a turboed b16 or something. I just don't feel like dealing with "haha, riceboy, your car not have enough stickers?" or some such nonsense. (No, I don't have stickers on my car).

FYI, there is no stock Mustang GT that runs 13's (with the exception of the Shelby GT500). The 00' GT runs 14.5 bone stock, the older models were considerably heavier with fewer ponies under the hood. If I beat a GT with my 90' Si (160K original miles and basically no mod's) I would stop the car after the race, get out, and do the cabbage patch as the loser drove by.

No stock Mustang GT will run 13s?
Umm, sorry to burst your bubble, but there are a few.
The old Notchbacks were known to FREQUENTLY run a 13.8-14.1
They were very light.

The NEW Mustang GT's do NOT run 14.5s unless the driver doesn't know what he's doing.
I have personally seen a Mustang GT run a 13.8 (my friends older brother) and a few others in the 13.9-14.1 range.

Just a lil info for ya.

I've spent considerable time at the track and the only stock Stang's from the 80's I've ever seen in the 13's were the 5.0LX's. Those were high 13's at that. I'm no stranger to domestic iron. I've built a 65 Chevelle Malibu, a 70 Nova, helped my old man restore his 57' ragtop Vette, and build his 94 Formula Firebird (383 stroker, 11:1 comp ratio, heads, cams, headers, exh., ram air hood, and a 342 rearend.), as well as working on my mom's 95' Imp SS, and 2 Caprice 9C1's. The 14.5 qtr time was pulled from SCC (GT vs Type R), I can't say from experience what they run stock because I haven't seen a stock one at Firebird Rcwy yet. Just because I drive a honda now doesn't mean I always have., but thanks for your input.

I'm not suprised. Your giving up almost 200lb/ft of torque to the GT (260hp, 302lb/ft). With the Gt it's all over by 5K rpm's but by that time your already staring at a set of tail lite's. Don't get me wrong the Mustang GT is a fast car, but when you put it up against the heavyweights from Chevy, Pontiac, and Dodge it's at the bottom of the food chain. Point being alot of import racers look at the Mustang GT as the pinacle of domestic performance which it definately is not. It's just alot more common to run into a 'Stang sitting at a stoplite.

Congratulations, its always nice to beat a car that’s superior (in acceleration) to your own. Just proves who the better driver is.
