3 very quick primer questions!!

Is better primer a model whith an airbrush or whith a can?

If the answer is airbrush; what are the tamiya codes for the primer?

Is better a white or grey primer?

1I dont know of any airbrush primer.

2 there is none, you have to use the spray can and airbrush the color.

3depends on the paint your working with.

In most instances you'll get a better finish by airbrushing primer. But Tamiya primer works so nice that if you can find it, use it. Otherwise automotive primers will work, get the lacquer/sandable kind. You can spray that paint into a container and apply it w/an airbrush, though sometimes I've needed to add a universal retarder to the mix so the paint flows smoothly.

Use a primer color complementary to the final color. White works best for light colors and bright/warm-hue colors, such as white, yellow, orange, red. Use gray primer for blues, greens, purples, black. Some primers are available in black and red oxide, use black for really dark colors or black, and red oxide for maroon colors. Some people use a pink primer for bright reds, like Ferrari red. Your top color will be best if you use the correct primer. If you have a particular color you want to spray and can't decide on the primer color, ask here!

There is one primer for airbrush that is very fine and high quality, it is made by Floquil and is in their Rail Road color line. It is a very light grey. It's very good stuff and works under about any type of paint you can think of, it should be thinned with their thinner called Dio-Sol.
Dio-Sol is also an excellent thinner for Testor's Enamels.

I did a search on Google.com and found tons of places that carry it. I am used to being able to walk in a hobbyshop and get it especially shops that specialize in Model Railroad stuff.

There's also this:

ModelMaster White Primer

I don't know about the quality, though.

Oh, and it's available in gray, also.

Testor's primer is not really primer it is more of a semi-gloss it goes on with a texture and does not sand well. Don't use it.

You don't want to use anything gloss for a primer.

its also acrylic base so it wont stick to the plastic that well either, another popular bottled primer is Gunze Sangyo Mr. Surfacer. it comes in 2 different grits 500 and 1000, the 1200 only comes in sprays.

I second that! it goes on like shite and wont come off with sanding, but will chip off on corners. use tamiya or Gunze if you can find them. best1hobby.com carries both as far as i know.
