Well i've been crashing hard these last few days so I haven't made any progress :) lol...it's good to catch up on sleep. One bonus is I found someone who will trade me those Falkens for some 512's instead and in a smaller size so i'm pretty happy. Looking at getting some 225/45's so I should be all good in that aspect need to just pay the difference.

Well..back to sleep =)

Uhmm basically project 600 hp =). My company got a shit load of welding equipment and various other machining tools so it's time to find a cheap car ( above ) and go crazy and make something ridiculously fast =)

My 'idea' is to use a 400 sbc..should be fun.

Side question before I forget : Are the inner door skins basically the same on the RS/GS/GS-T/GSX ? Like when you pull off your door panel and see your door guts , that metal is the same dimensions / cuts / holes on the models all the same ?

I'm willing to gaurantee that there would be no difference between the trims of cars as far as the doors go. It just wouldnt make sense for them to be any different.

Blackcrow64
02-16-2008, 06:16 AM
The skins are all exactly the same. The only difference will be included hardware such as power windows/manual windows, etc...

I still wanna know what that car is damnit. lol >_<

It's a 1997...Whoever gets it right gets free parts off my GS lol unless it's like a hood or hatch or something then I have to pay ridiculous amounts for shipping =P

Its a Mazda MX-6. Also, fuck the 400. I'd either go with a 350, 383, or this one variant I remember reading about, IIRC it was a LT1 crank and 350 rods that yeilded like 306ci and a rod ratio good enough to take to 8500 all day. Fuck it, put a big block in it.

Bingo- 1997 mazda mx-6 ls.

The reason we are going to use a 400 is because I was given one for free that was rebuilt and only had around 10K put on it before the truck was rolled. i just have to go pull it out lol...nothing beats free =)

So I did a little work on my car today. I pulled the wire harness out of the GS from both doors , engine bay and dash area after a long process of removing everything from the dash. After I got the door harness out , I installed them into my RS and hooked everything up and no go..Is the under dash harness the same in the RS & GS ? I'm wondering if the plug where the wire harness from the door plugs into the body is different on the models.

I know these worked perfectly before because I put a charged battery in the GS and tested all the electrical stuff I could and the windows went up and down strong. Am I missing something ?

I would tend to think that if you have a difference in the doors i.e., power this or that, you might have to unplug some of the corresponding fuses.:2cents:

No no , I found out the problem. See the picture below...
It was basically a relay that was missing from the secondary fuse relay station. The GS had the relay and the RS had the station and the slot for the relay but no relay. I just happened to notice it before I was going to swap fuse blocks lol....So anyone who undergoes the RS power option conversion -> It's simple just don't forget the relay =P

It's this little bastard right here and sits up above and a little more forward than the main fuse block. IF anyone needs any info or advice on it -Just ask

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y187/ohjiro/Eclipse/Conversions/0218081251.jpg

So now I have everything wired for both power door motors , both power mirros , power locks , cruise control and rear wiper/sprayer. Now I just need to finish the hardware portion and i'll be golden =)

Yeah the KLDE is shit 165 hp to the crank and about 110 to the wheels via 5 speed. Nothing impressive. Then again you could always turn around and drop in the other version of the 2.5 l. the KLZE and create a monster 200 hp...yay..Lol.

The tranny all depends on how well you maintain them. People excpect these heavy ass beasts with tiny HP to be able to handle ripping and tearing around town on a day to day basis but that's not what they are designed to do or for. Shit my mx-3 tranny with the smaller version of those two motors the 1.8 KL-8 was one of the best transmissions i've had in any vehicle. Granted the car only topped at 130 HP from the factory but it held up just fine and never let me down. Rings on the other hand...eh..lol good luck with those.

So here it is lol...bare in all it's glory.

Glad to hear that, can you break the helicoil and glass beading for me?

Break it down for you ? Sure.

Glass Beading : A low impact way to basically shot blast aluminum and other softer metals that sand blasting will destroy the surface texture of. One of the best things for aluminum heads in order to get that ultimate shine look without a polish.

http://www.langleyublast.com/album/marine/PA130052.jpg

Helicoil kit : Basically when you suck a valve and them the piston slams that valve back up against the butt of the spark plug , it ends up seriously jacking the spark plug threads up and may end up having compression leaks so what they do is 'helicoil' it so you can get the spec. torque for your spark plug and not worry about stripping and lost compression.

http://www.woodlandsshetlandstud.co.uk/images/links/Helicoil_insert.gif

You lucky bastard getting away that cheap.
Yeah but I had to build up about 10K through my camaro in order to get these favors so it's not like they didn't cost me lol..

Well I got my valves / springs / retainers and clips in today on the head. I also picked up a 1998 RS with body kit for 500.00 from a buddy of mine. Car is in descent over all shape but whoever tried to custom 'shave' the door handles really doesn't know how to use BONDO so the driver side is fack barred.

It's actually missing about half the interior pieces as well so..the wing is the least of my concerns lol..good thing I have the white GS parts though easy to reassemble the black one in no time. They used grey and black primer. I dont really remember how they had it laid out, this was about 3 years ago. But it looked good and the car was a beast. That was when I was getting into cars but didn't know much about them so I have no idea what was under the hood.
