Updated! (just a bit)
I start to mount PE parts I done in the Revell engine.. alu is the MM Metalizer kind, w/out buffing to achieve the alloy cast appeal. On the airbox I sprayed Insigna red over alu and after I scratched out the paint from the PE surface, polished a bit anc carefully with SM poilshin stick (rough 3200)

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/airbDX.jpg
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/airbcentr.jpg
Fit test, I kept parts as china sticks ;)

Isn't a livery that allow massive reflections, also automotive flat base is a bit tricky to glossy up, they need a hi-depth of clear: despite all I'm quetly happy with the low thickness of all the body threatment, is come out sharp to me.

Ok guys: thing come hard now LOL:
When I (well we, me and Mr.Ping) said that those ladies done 15.000 miles in China, we dont mean that:
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/ref4.jpg
but something close to:
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/ref1.jpg
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/ref2.jpg
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/ref3.jpg
and... no you aren't in the wrong forums: this isn't battle tank and army equipment forum: those are ever our girls :D LOL
So... time to dirty up a bit my pony: my viewpoint is that my scangi is at 14990 miles done, few befofore the well deserved final wash :D, so if they achieved (I guess) some body wash over ther raid, I guess underpanel was in a terrible (for a ferrari, not for your suv LOL) condition at athe end: this is mine:
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/upsidedown.jpg
I started weathering by drybrushing several tones of brown and sand over 3 shades of blacks:
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/weath0.jpg
1- is TS6 matt black, 2- is ModelMaster flat black, 3- is Vallejo acryl black (lightened with a 10% of sand)
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/weath1.jpg
At this point I realized that my stained/heated mechs was really in a comic contrast with undrpanels:
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/weath2.jpg
Step by step: 3 or 4 layers of brown, every step lightned a bit
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/weath3.jpg
followed by 5/6 layers of sand, lightened to dark-white over the process:
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/weath4.jpg
I tried to mantain something of the original color (LOL) to see differences from metal, plastic, protection laquer etc...
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/weath5.jpg
at this point was time to washing all with a black crap :D, so XF1 thinned with alchol, followed from a dirty hand of Flat black MM thinned with sinthetic thinner ( the cheap thing normally used to clean brushes or thin oil paint insthead natural trementine). I put a lot of liquid on bolts and panel joints and let he flush throught the chassis
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/weath6.jpg
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/weath7.jpg
enough for 15000 dirty miles? BTW I promise, my red car would be a factory showroom thing, something that love marketing managers that have to sell it :D LOL

I really like that finish, but, I'm surprised that after 14,000 miles she only got dirt, especially on those rough roads, so what about some dents in the exhaust? or some scratches in the underpanels?
Are you going to reproduce the headlamp grilles?
Very good job!

Wow!!!! Those grilles are A W E S O M E now please tell us how you made them? What you did to bend them to shape so well?
And you talk about a bit much for your skills????? C'mon!
But doing scratches and bents, is something we easily can do to anything, haha! LOL.
For the dents you just need to hit those exhaust pipes with something, you don't need big dents, just those generated by stones in the road, no need to redo painting. Unless of course you already assembled everything and the pipes are already glued, then forget it
And a coarse grit file can do some good scratches on the panels.
Keep this great working!

Martin (awesome job you're doing in those 7 man) and Ramon: yes grill are photoetched: I done with 0.1 mm German Silver metal sheet so is quetly easy bend, also the shape of the lamp cover isn't extremely complex and have a fold in the middle: hoping I'll find a way to glue w/out destroy the clearcoat (super-thin TS13): usually I done it with thinned (in water) white glue, but this time I guess I need something like epoxy stuff to pull in position.
Ramon you're tempting me: I'm wondering abot minor damnages, I've to search something for inspiration: if I remember right J.Tremblett done something magic speaking of weathering/aging ;). But at least she is just a Ferrari: my fear is my hevy hand ;) LOL

Some jobs on brakes: front and back side photoetched, inner part turned in alu. Front side polished with SM polishing sticks (3.2K+6K) and 2nd layer brunished with chemical brunisher (for german silver-alpacca). I though to cut out the horrible Revell system with double rims and replaced with 3mm rod.

There are better uses for alcohol, my friend! :D
Joking aside, I did find out by accident that denaturated spirit does strip that clear from Revell parts. Of course, so does DOT ;)

Revell dumpers don't deserve a shoot: really crappy stuff. I turned mine by brass.

This is the solution I found to have a bit of game that allow me to set-up better track width and height (an also camber) . (Note that I cut down the Revell wheel fixing)

All I need now is a bit of weathering on inner part of fenders to blend metal and plastic. Thanks for visit our red girls :D .

Great shocks, I cant imagine weathering those beauties but I bet you make them look even better then they are now.

Nice springs! :D LOFL
Clever "cheat" on the wheel attachment, I wish you had thought of that earlier ;)
The close-up on the weathering looks great IMO. Much more interetsing to look at than "squeaky clean"

i've seen 1:1 cars that aren't built to this level of detail. of course, i live in a neighborhood where too many guys think a good build is slapping $5,000 worth of rims on a $1,500 car, but you get my point.

Wow, Gio,
fantastic scratchbuilding on the brakes, now these shocks - superb!!!
What a shame that they will disappear in the wheel-wells.
