Absolutely brilliant the way you are extending the use of p/e into new areas not to mention the level of detail you add into the p/e itself :worshippy
I am sure certain aftermarket companies is following with interest ;)

Thanks a lot guys for your comments, you're awesome.

Grande Magoooooooooooooo: you believe or not I finished....
... interiors :D LOL

let me show stuff:

360CS' interiors aren't carpeted, I flocked just some parts: grey DM flocking with "Great Lord of the Manor Klutzvensky Flocking Method"TM :grinyes: trimming with painted surgical tape:

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/flock2.jpg

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/flock3.jpg

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/flock1.jpg

You seen last update I done some PE: rubber CS carpets was painted (Lecher automotive flat black -acrylic) slightly drybrushed with grey:

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/tapp.jpg

You'll see here mounted, you'll also see some PE from AcuStion CS sheet (poor stuff to be honest for the price, alt least great material and etching-exept WS wipers)

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/tapp-e-pe.jpg

Seats: carbon back (SM) was cleared (I tried for 1st time Model Master acryl gloss, trough brush: it's a strange milky stuff, become transparent over curing, no bad) polished and waxed, I given they a pony (CM transfert, transfered on a silicon paper, painted, applied):

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/seat1-2.jpg

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/seat2-2.jpg

Seatbelts: they keep me 2 whole days :banghead:. CS has strange 4 point belts:

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/belts1.jpg

Goodies: estinguisher turned and detailed (yellow kind)

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/exti1.jpg

also insthead the ugly mesh bags I done a capable cordura bag:

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/bag.jpg

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/extiebag.jpg

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/extiebag2.jpg

Consolle: I haven't the "deluxe" TK so I done by styrene, carbonized, cleared, detailed:

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/consolle2.jpg

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/consolle1.jpg

Doors panes done by scratch, carbonized, cleared, added PE hinge

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/sidepan.jpg

Dashboard and steering wheel finished: I used my PE parts for grills and steering wheel alu pad, and finally for the F1 gear switch levers:

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/dash3.jpg

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/dash2-1.jpg

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/dash1-1.jpg

Seatbelts mounted:

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/seatscrew.jpg

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/searfixed.jpg

Ok I'll seem un-modest but honestly I love so much this pict:

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/seatfixsd2.jpg

F I N I S H E D !!!! (interiors LOL) hoping to be able to keep better outdoor pict soon:

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/finish1.jpg

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/finish2.jpg

I tried to check also color coordination with deep blue body: seem not bad to me ;)

To my crappy eye, those stunning seatbelts look a tiiiiiny bit too wide. As if someone were to sit in the seat, the seatbelt would almost cover the whole of his chest?

Thanks guys, too much :)

@enzo: yes I own the 19" SAS rims but actually I planning something cool, also to see a bit of the job I done on PE rotors ;)

@ steve: I guess should be the massive zoom and macro set up: belts are 2.5mm wide, I check in my car and they are 5.5 cm wide... BTW you're right: the problem should be the seat, every one done his CS seat starting from racing stuff know that they come out a bit thiny in the middle.

Finally I can work on my preferred stuff: engine details. I'm doin' a second engine to show off the car: it would be a standard 360 engine (no CS) to skip mods and show differences between two versions, but mainly to show engine back!

So let me introduce another son: after Mr.Crocgio, this is Mr.Alternatorgio:

the plan:

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/project.jpg

So I turned the inner part, where glue PE, it's almost a cylinder 5mm diam x 6 mm long. Placed a strip of 2side tape to help me to keep all togheter:

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/turned-2.jpg

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/alt2.jpg

liked the palmito?

Folded little wings:

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/alt3.jpg

Both sides front and back:

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/alt4.jpg

Reinforced with a strip of BMF alu:

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/alt5.jpg

I wrappened around a thin (0.2mm) strip of alu, to simulate the body

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/alt6.jpg

Than I overlapped the part to a 1/1 drawing to identify where I need mountings bolts

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/alt6-1.jpg

Backing done with 1mm diam rod and a little PE square, wrapped around:

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/alt7.jpg

Finally done: I guess I'll use in most of my ferraris (and at least on the F430 is visible)

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/alt8.jpg

On a big scale proejct this stuff would be the norm, but in 1/24th scale this much detail is seldom done. Great job! and how about selling us AF'ers a 360CS photoetched detail set?..lol

Edit: I'm just waiting for someone to completely scratchbuild a car in 1/24th scale from photoetch, plastic strip, and machined parts! with the talent we have up here I think its very possible(just remembered your scratch built street rod in large scale GTMike)

Thanks you all, guys.

OrangeR, Stryfe, CeeElle: I ever asked myself "why not": obviously I have some reasonable answers:

- It's my hobby: I love it, I didn't count the time and the effort invested, I just love do it so, I do it for satisfaction, it's a pleasure to share and possibily offer a contribution for the common modelling knowledge: I'm worry that if I do as job I'll lost those valors.

If I do as a job I should be worried by money, times, customer care, stuff quality: I'm worried to lost friend to do a thing that can't give me so much money to consider a a job.

Better way to me is still stremline my job to keep money and have ever more time (and munny) to do models: this would give me more satisfactions, money needed to manage a family, money to do some crazy stuff like the montecarlo's PE or acquire other tools (CNC!!!!): anyway I'm trying ever to keep clear-cut job and hobby: so don't expect stuff from me: is time and money consuming: obviously I consider the request a big compliment, thanks a lot.

Also lately I discuss with a AF friend about a similar issue: like he said (for him) I have enough trouble and stress from the job to search other crap in my hobby ;) :D

For what concer the imitation I'm not worried: the profit I'll have from my modelling ideas is few bucks: I haven't the power, capabilities, money to sell hi-volumes so... I don't care.. anybody here with few skills in doing PE will draw an alternator like those, they (aftermarket stuff producers) didn't worked on it 'cos they do stuff for intermediates/beginners, never seen a stuff that is a pain to mount as my alternator LOL

once a time, thanks a lot for your kind comments: more to come soon, ciao

The job go on: I'm trying to have all ready to test part' fitting, not easy. I turned some parts like the water pump, pulleyes and AC compressor by brass and alu, and mounted on the block trough the PE backing: the fitting between parts seem ok, now I have to see with belts and pulleyes, I'll have some games.

Alternator mount, done with a sandwitches of 3 PE layers

Guys..... LOL Glad you liked ;)

Updates: I started the job on the second engine (the one to show alone sideways the car)

Latest PE board, now I guess I have all I need ;) BTW 45' after the "print" command I obtained that: I have to honestly admit that I start to be pleased with my PE skills (ok there's something not completely etched but depend of a plate coating's fault, and I have 4-5 times the piece I need..), this time I found a method to keep the plate unoxided and clean, and... ... ok let me show than I'll start the quiz show:

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/fotoin1.jpg

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/fotoin2.jpg

Ok, quiz: what's the part on the right etched plate? No prize anyhow :D

I done something on the spare engine: gearbox levers (no F1 for this one, and it would be a regular (no CS) engine, with some details (less) -notice that I cutted the oil tanks and drilled axes holes, they would be detailed with the PE just etched). Ok soon with some jobs.

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/CIMG4495.jpg

Little Tip: the braided line (that I have to reshape with the correct angle) isn't an aftermarket part (despite I own kilometers of those dammn) I done by myself... ;)

All ready for differential cover :

Wow, the P/E is amazing. What's the method to keep it unoxided?

gionc
05-20-2007, 05:22 AM
HI Drazman: are you the same Draz from the PL forum? to keep clean I just quickly washed only a couple seconds (brushing under current water) quickly dried and so washed on solved to clear the UV laquer, other times I washed for more time on water so where you have engraved areas it come oxided, or tried to wash immediately on solvent that react with acid doing some crystalizations.

Mike: just rolling a file on a piece of solder material ;) lesson learned from a super-cool master like R40.

The last zoo's cab, after Mr. croc & Mrs cickkengio, let me to introduce Mr. Spidergio :D

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/supp5.jpg

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/gionc/supp6.jpg

I guess I'll paint it red, flat base w/out clearcoat. I'm wondering about legs, I'll try something in the lathe... I don't like so much this solution. I gues I have to think better at the problem.

I wonder how do You do so clean connetion between the P/E elements. I'm trying soldering, but in my case both the parts and soldering gun are covered in solder but not connected.

I know: I guess you need a kind of soldering acid, I didn't found a tranlsation for the italian word "Flussante": apply those with a brush on the metal pars to join than the hot solder will come from the iron just on the area when you brushed acid. This is becose it unoxide parts. Anoter way is brush acid and place a bit of cutted solder over (approx 1/2mm every 1cm of soldered line) tha just warm up parts (like I done now) the solder will follow the brushed acid, like you'll see from pict, and you haven't (almost) the need of wok with the file.

Looking forward to see something from you: I think I lost some of you great PL modellers: I was busy and hardly I'll follow jobs here and in the ITA forum.

I think the word you are looking for is flux....a brush on paste type, I can see how that would help when soldering these parts together. I really like that engine stand, very creative. Keep up the great work Gio!
