Ok since we are all getting to know each other and I have seen some request's to see other member Firebird/Trans Am's . I thought I would share my vehicle and ask to see other member's Firebirds/Camaro/Formula/Z28/Trans Am/WS6/Firehawk or whatever.

Transmission- Transgo Shift Performance Kit, Corvette 2nd Servo, Coolz tranny treatment, Synthetic Fluid and Vigiliante Torque Converter.

Rear End- 3.73's GM Gears and Auburn Locker Carrier.

Well I'm sure I forgot something but I will update this if I remember. I didn't go into too much detail so if there is any mod that you would like more detail on I would be glad to just ask Also the only reason I stroked the engine was because I had spun a bearing on my original engine and bought a second hand engine(which I still have and no idea what to do with) to use in the meantime and when I looked at the cost of repairing and rebuilding the block vs Stroking and kit cost. It was not that much more. However unless your in my position you can build equil power with a Head/Cam package.

Only future Mod I plan to do when I find it cheap enough and believe me I have been looking is a WS6/Firehawk hood.

1990 formula

what makes it go - supercharged chevy 455ci big block to a turbo 350 tranny.

exahust - what exahust?... :P

mods - posi-tract rear, otherwise completely stock accept for the engine and tranny.

interior - it looks like a rave on wheels, ill post some pics as soon as i find a host.

exterior - metalic baby blue, chrome tips, purple undercar lights (dont ask,) appears to be completely stock.

preformance - with supercharger: 0-60 in 2.9secs, w/o supercharger: 0-60 in 3.6 secs, 540hp, 510fp.

price to pay - gone through 6 sets of tires in the past 18 months. i get 4-9 mpg and it only runs on racing fuel, barely runs on premium. warped/snapped 3 drive shafts. blew the stock tranny. went through 48, yes 48, engine mounts. all new suspension after coming down on a wheely too hard. and a set of heads (a word of advice, if your dont know how to prep your engine for a supercharger, dont use 1!!!!)

Thats surprising I thought you would have said that the 98 would have been your favorite. Most people that have owned both swear by the LS1 even though as a fellow LT1 man I'm kinda happy you didn't .

cndctrdj
10-19-2004, 10:06 AM
the ls1 was great but i dont drive around at high rpm's all the time and thats where that car has all its power. it felt too much like a honda, a very powerful one. i like being in 6th gear at 40mph just cruising around town. i like the looks of the ls1 alot more but looks arent everything. i also love the sound of my 95. thier is alot that goes into it.

FormulaLT1
10-19-2004, 10:17 AM
Yeah, Each has there pro's & con's. I'm very happy with my LT1 and hope to one day own the LS1 , which I'm sure I will but I'm very happy with the LT1 as a complete package(sound, power, MPG, Aftermarketl). So I will be expecting alot out of it.

I am more into the older Birds. I have 3 1968 Firebirds and one 89 GTA L98 350 Convertible . My most fun one does 12.60 @106 and has a great 1.67 0-60 ft time on street tires and through the exhaust. The best thing about this car is it runs on ARCO gas and never gets above 175 degs even in hot summer traffic. It is a stock built 400 CID Pontiac that was built in 1991 for $999.00. I stuck 2 new valves in the heads and new springs for a total of $300 . So it is a very low budget car but hauls. It gets there fast but as you can see from the mph it seems a bit low for the time. This is what is all about Pontiac torque. I also show a Convertible 400 4sp that usually places first in the All Pontiac shows. Then I also have a daily driver that has 528,000 miles on it but I just went through it and it now is getting close to show. The GTA Convert is very clean with a new top and 78 factory options with a few handling goodies. It also is a 350 that makes it very rare. I have heard as low as 50 were made. It also has all leather, steering wheel controls and lots of other goodies.

72fbird
10-21-2004, 08:31 PM
you like older firebirds? i have a 1972 firebird with a 350 2bbl everything is stock but its fast. Im about to get true dual exhaust and a 4bbl carburetor.

sixt8bird
10-21-2004, 10:18 PM
Most people think that a 350 Pontiac is fast. I had one for a while in one of my Firebirds that had a ton of money into it and everyone that rode in it thought that it was a 13 second car. Haaaa!!! It barely made it to the 14s. 14.99 and that was with headers,4 bbl, and a ton of tuning. A 400 will go way better and make more HP at a cheaper price. Check out my site. I like the 70-73 Birds alot. You need to check out www.performanceyears.com and go to forums. This will get you in the right direction.

your image address here
And it will auto link the image to the site.
If you don't have it hosted on a site already. Go to www.imageshack.us/ and they will host it and give you links already in format for posting on forums.

are you kidding me? a 350 is fast...well i dont know cuz my car ran 13.6 so
i have a 400 in my garage im rebuilding and im going to drop that in and with the dual exhaust 4bbl it will sound nice i hope it runs faster than 13 sec. on the 1/4 mile though

sixt8bird
10-22-2004, 09:16 PM
What did you have done to your 350 to get 13.6 and what mph were you running at the end? I have yet to see any Pontiac 350 at the drags do a 13 second 1/4.

sixt8bird
10-22-2004, 09:34 PM
Also 13.6 with a 2 bbl. I cant help but call BS on this one. I suppose it also has the stock manifolds too. What year 400 do you have and what heads are on it. I can help you put power to the tires and then hook up so you dont just smoke em. It is very hard to get into the 12s with a 400. But with the stroker kits out now, you can save your money and buy a 468 CID kit for your 400 and then 12s would be easy. I have been into Pontiacs for 25 years and know what their potential is and their weaknesses. I have had 350s,400s 428s and 455s and I know how to make them run. I am also into Harleys and Corvettes but they take a back seat to my Firebirds. Even though my Corvette is a 454 Convertible.

Here are two of my cars. I actually painted the hard top in my driveway and it turned out killer!!! I replaced the rear quarter panels before the paint. The paint alone cost $1600.The convertible has a Tri Power set up and is a 4 sp with 3:42 posi rear end. It also has deluxe interior complete with a factory 8 track. Power top. Thrush side pipes.

Here are a few of my other cars and bike. The Corvette is a 454 Convert and the GTA is a factory 350 convertible. The red Firebird is the 12 second car that runs on Arco gas and runs super cool even in heavy traffic. It gets up and goe[IMG]s to the tune of 1.67 0-60 ft times and 0-60MPH in 3.7 seconds. Whoooo Hooooo!!!

Thanks! I picked the car up for $1800. The 305 has a lot of miles on it and it's only a 2BBL, but I have plans for a 400-455 to go into it. Different transmission, of course. I took it to the track just to see what it would do. I was mildly surprised by a 17.04 @ 81 mph. I wasn't expecting even an 18 second pass.

ok so yea it was BS i didnt run 13.6 in the 1/4 mile haha. Anywayz im not quite sure what year the 400 is. I got it from a guy that works on pontiacs. He said it has a broken piston rod cuz it knocks. But yea after i get it rebuilt i could use some help specially so i save tires

I have a 1992 Firebird....Stock saddly. hopeing to change that some day, but, alas Univeristy of Wisconsin-Green Bay wants all of my money right now.
Its only a v6 though, which, kinda sucks, but better on Gas which in College, always nice. The V6 has a long way to go before it dies though, only about 86,600 miles on it. Once it does though, its 350 time.

I might start with smaller things this summer...or winter possiabliy. Any one have any suggestions..other then the motor swap.

Hypsi that Cookiemonster avitar is so halarious - can you actually imagine what it would be like to see/hear him talk on Seseme St. trying to explain turbos to little kids??? LOL - thats killer!!

My '95 Z is holding up pretty well, although I got several new stone chips to the front this summer. With God's help the weather will clear up just long enough so that I can make a few passes down the track tomorrow, for the first & only time this summer!!! Best ET with the 2.93's was 13.8 @ 101.+ MPH. Now she's packing 3.73's with a new Zexel-Torsen differential, ported (really ported) MAF, home made 1LE intake elbow (which won't last but wanted to try out before replacing stock elbow), 160 degree stat with Hypertech tuning (NOT the engine tuning just gear/tire correct, fan setting, rev limit & tranny pressure increase). Tomorrow is suposed to be scattered showers clearing up mid-day, but actually getting to 15 degree celcius.

I will post the ferenheit equivalent conversion, ET's (hopefully), and sound system pics after the weekend.
