well here is your ride and I agree it is hot but once you uploaded the pics to your gallery its easy you just double left click the photo in your gallery and it will bring up a formatted link to your photo then just right click that and paste it in any part of AF you want to share it. If you do a quick search. you will find tons of step by step instructions I have written on downloading photo's. Good Luck.

OK here are some directions for those of you that still are having a hard time with posting a pic. here are directions on posting a pic. If you have imageshack host it just start from step 6.
These are instructions I wrote a while back but when you do the first part just make sure it has you signed in and if your pics are too big for this site let me know and I can edit them to make them smaller for you or you can just go to www.imageshack.us (http://www.imageshack.us/) and have them host it and they will give you a formated link to post the pic on forums like this one.
OK here is how you post a pic on this site, first you
1. click on the gallery button of one of your post's
2. Click upload button in the upper right hand side.
3. choose which catergory you want the picture posted in , also make sure that your picture the same size or less than the 80 K space they allow you.
(if that is a problem I can help you with editing the picture)
4. hit browse and find the picture in you computer you wanted posted then click it.
5. wait for it to upload.
6. then go back into your gallery section in one of your posts again double click your picture and then you will see share this photograph on the message board you need to copy that link and either put it in your sig to have it in your post's like mine or you can post it right in a message.
John
Edit- To put the image in your sig you click usercp in the top right hand corn of the screen and then click signiture and pasted the link in the space provided and then click save and your set.__________________

Always loved the Black with Red stripes. Heres a couple of mine. I race the red one and do 12 seconds on cheap gas and stock 400. I show the hard top blue one, it has 530,000 miles and it was my first paint job ever and I sprayed it in my driveway, and the convertible has factory 8 track, fold down seat, tilt wheel, 4 sp, 3:42 rear gears, power top, deluxe interior, factory gauges, factory custom seat belts, rear mounted antenna and the few mods are 1966 GTO Tri -power , vintage Thrush side pipes, and Custom paint. The GTA trans Am is 11 of 50 made with a 350 cid engine and has 78 options!!!

sixt8bird
01-28-2005, 11:57 PM
You should get a first gen bird. Cheap to work on and power to spare. 400 CID 0-60 in 3.8 seconds and 1/4 speed in 12.60 seconds at 106 MPH. All under $3000 car and all. Gotta love Poncho power!!!

im puttin a 400 pontiac in my third gen.I hear good things about 400's,in relation to consistant 13 second quarter mile trap times.I dug up some 6x heads that should help boost me off.I plan on doing some milling for compression, and putting a hot cam and some other things too.Gonna be somthing you dont see every day.

There are a few guys on Performance years that have 455s in their 3rd gens . One guy is even running a turbo on his 455.Like I posted before you may get 9-1 after milling the heads which will be a bit low for high performance. The 6 X heads are really good heads but they are more suited for the 455 since before any milling ,they are 9-1. I would keep a lookout for the 72-76 cc big valve heads. A cam with mid 220 deg to mid 230 degs would rock in a 3rd gen. I am doing mid 12s with this combo and the car can sit in hot summer traffic and not get over 180. Just remember, the higher the compression, the more duration you can run and the more power you will make. If you run alot of duration with low compression, you will run out of RPMs before hitting your power. So if you are set on your 400 with 6Xs then I would go about 218-224 degs max. Aroller cam will make alot more power and you could run more duration but then you are looking at $750 for the cam and lifters.

There are alot of other options availablenow also. Like the stroker kits that Jim Butler Performance and other Pontiac shops sell. They will make your 400 up to a 472 cid engine and have the best parts available like lightweight pistons, H beam rods and then your compression would also be around 9.5 -1 which is ideal on the street. These kits start at $1650 for a complete balanced assembly. This is bearings, rods, crank, pistons, rings. It is a great way to go. I just picked up a freshly machined set of #16 heads with brand new stainless valves, bronze guides , new seals and new springs for $400 so the deals are out there still for better heads on the 400s. these have the 2.11 1.77 valves.

this is my 79 firebird Esprit. I dont know too much about it because I bought it from a police auction with no history, or keys for that matter... but who can argue with 250 bucks. I know it has a olds 403, with a holley performer 4bbl carb, and I think its got a turbo 350 automatic tranny. I bought it when I was 17 with intentions of a project, but I havent done much to it due to lack of money. (im 21 now.. im sure a lot of you out there know how projects have a tendancy to hit a standstill like that) It was basically a heap when I bought it, cosmetics wise, so Ive dropped about 2,000 in it since then on mostly just interior, tires and rims, and it desperatly needs a paint job, but I will be finishing everything when I get home from this stupid country (bagdahd, iraq for the army) cause i'll have a NICE chunk of change in the pocket after that. I have been driving it in the summers though, and it runs great and its fast, ive topped out (just a guess here) at around the 140's. My speedo stops at 120, i had it buried pretty good. I'm still trying to decide if I'm just gonna buy a crate engine and build it up that way, but the engine runs nice, so i might just rebuild it. Also if anyone has any clue of where I can covert it into a Targa top let me know...

allright formula(and everybody else ) dont pick on me i know this isnt a firebird, but it is a pontiac and the motor is probably going into my firebird.Unless i decide i want another boat besides my 97 crown vic.
I just bought a 1972 catalina 400 with 56,000 original miles(documented).
Everything has been replaced or rebuilt on the entire car, except the rear axle housing, and the body itself
here are some photos of all the reciepts since the year 2002.Too much to list just take my word for it this car is newer than my 97 crown vic if your considering the parts that have been replaced.

these reciepts are all dated and show the motor being rebuilt including the heads. They also show the trans has been rebuilt three times, all the suspension is replaced, and most parts have a lifetime warrenty. It came with every piece of original paperwork, even the original lighter still is with the car.I am taking the motor and trans out,and putting them in my t/a.If anybody needs front end parts, everything having to do with steering and suspension is new and in most cases has a lifetime warrenty. It also has a clear title in my name, and the tag is good until december 05.
here is a web site with pics of 72 catalinas.of course mine isnt as nice, and its not a convertable.

I just bought a 1972 catalina 400 with 56,000 original miles(documented).
Everything has been replaced or rebuilt on the entire car, except the rear axle housing, and the body itself

I don't care if its a Firebird. If its a nice car feel free to post pics of it here and get us some pics of the actual car. Judging from all those receipts it should be one killer car.

Pictures will not do it justice, cause the only reason i got the car is because it got totalled out in back. But i will get some photos of it anyways. The body is almost laughable but the drivetrain sure isnt.I plan on doing a play by play of the motor swap,i will start a new thread complete with all the pics and conversion data you can stand

Is that right, does it normally just show up as a link, or do the pics usually show up in the post?

You left out the part with copying the link you have to go into your gallery and double click the image, then copy the "share this with board" link it gives you and paste it were you want that image displayed.

I have three different photos, would it be better to let you edit them into one? So, it's just one link?

Ok well, most of my pix of my car are huge but theres a pic in my sig and the link to see more pictures are shown at the link. It's a 77 and I love it. I can't imagine life without a Firebird. Anyway, there's the car, what more needs to be said. Most mods done to the car are described on the website.

Damn Mr. Luos. I am honestly thinking about making your car my desktop background. Every time I drool over your car I somehow feel like I am cheating on my own car. Also thats a impressive dyno sheet.

Thanks. Car was running on the stock tune as well. A good tune would probably kick it up to 395-400 RWHP and 385-390 ft/pounds.
And believe me, I have plenty of people that have used pics of my car as backgrounds. Somehow just managed to land awesome backgrounds for pics. Gotta love Colorado for something.
Couple more for good measure....
