Ok, you misunderstand me... I am Italian... If say after their defeat in WW2 the people of Italy were forced out of their country, perhaps the allies wanted to settle thier own there, anyway the victors can do whtever they want. Now Italians are settled everywhere, but preserve their culture and heritage, and a movement emerged for Italians to return to their ancestral homeland, I would back it 1000%... I may be american but I would DEFINITELY want MY PEOPLE in the motherland!!!
Ok, don't sit here and nitpick over technicallities... ok, the concept of ownership didn't exist for Native Americans, that doesn't matter... it was THEIR LAND, they occupied it, and we STOLE it from them, end of story, and yes, your house is on native american land, unless you think your ancestors hunted and lived here thousands of years ago.

haha, i was mainly being phecitious (sp?) i understood you correctly.
and i agree 100% with your assesment of our attack on the native americans.
the original problem here, is that israel is acting the fool as to why the palestinians dislike them. when they know full well. and the refusal of both sides to compromise will only result in further carnage.

So who do you think has the actual claim on the Holy Land??? Though not Jewish, nor having any Jewish friends, I must say the Jews... just because of the fact that it IS their original homeland. I really feel like people forget this... If my people live in an area for thousands of years, I'd definitely want it back. But what do you think?

and prelewd, it doesn't matter that Jesus was born there, the reason they fight for it is because it is the Promised land given to the Jews from God, not because it contains Jesus' birthplace. also you say its superficial to fight over the land? did our cuntry not fight over rule of our land? do other countries not fight to control there land? what do you suggest they do, let them take it over just because they want it? I'm not sure what you were thinking when you made that comment

We fought for freedom from British rule.
I suggest they just get along and both live there, but that's impossible as long as state is mixed with church.
If I go to your house and say, "God gave me your house, now move out.", are you going to give it to me?

Yea, perfect sense.. I was just mocking whoever said that it was their land because "god" gave it to them.
"God" gave us the whole world in the beginning. "Us" being every living thing. I guess the people fighting over there just don't realize that.

You were mocking me?:) That's OK I didn't think anyone would take me seriously when I said that anyway. It's true that the Palestanians believe that god gave the land to them also. The Jewish people did take the land and have defended it pretty well. Please don't start saying they never would have if it weren't for America. I don't want to get into that arguement. (You get your friends to help when you need them.)
I also believe they should be able to come up with some peaceful solution and draw up a border that is fair and live there in peace. That will never happen however. Arab countries do not want them there . They are not shy about saying it publicly. Even if they only owned 1 square mile they would still want them out.:2cents:

well ive been away for a while, but how did we get onto the isreali and palastinain thing? But ok, lets see, i dont think that will ever be resolved, b/c both the palastinians and the jews are wrong(according to me) why? because God said that He'd give the land to the Jews if they followed him, and since they rejected Jesus, they have stopped following God, they still do the same things that the've done before Jesus came to Earth(thats why they are still fighing if they followed God the palastinians would run away or something, just go and read the parts of the Bible where Isreal becomes a nation). And the Palastinians, well, their god has not shown much ability to help them.

i fail to see how not following jesus means they stopped following god. i mean, they still worship the same god, they're just a little more cynical about the prophets
jews, christians and muslims all worship the same god...different prophets. the palestinians dont have seperate god. just a different prophet.

I dont know excatly because i cant find it right now, could you pplz tell me where it is? But i have read it before, and why the heck would God support ppl and help them out when they have fallen and rejected him(Jesus). Are you one of those guys who says "everyones right? We all a different way of reaching the same goal?"
Well since most christians believe that Jesus is part of God and is God, then we dont worship the same God. Just b/c a religion is simular does not mean that they worship the same God.

i do seem to remember visiting a mosque and a synagouge as part of a religion class, and both mentioned that they worshipped the same god as the christians, but had different beliefs dealing with the prophets. muslims actually believe that they are the newest religion in the set of three, and the read from the torah, the bible and the quran. how are they not worshipping the same god as you?
RedLightning

Really? of course they twisted them to suit them, Jesus said that he was Gods son, the Muslims think he is a prophet, end of story. They make him into a totally seperate person, with just the same name. Being sent by God to teach his words and being God teaching his words is VERY different. If Jews really teach "his" preachings that news to me what to they say?
lazysmurff
06-10-2004, 03:41 PM
the torah and the old testimate are very much the same book. they accept jesus as gods prophet, just not as god. thats what makes them jewish, and not christian.
perhaps the muslims view christianity as simply twisting jesus into something he was not. why is it so hard for you to admit that you may worship the same god?

Its hard because its not really true when you really look at it, i agree its some times simular, oh and Jesus is in the New Testament not the old, and i think the torah and old testament is the same thing. The old testament says that there will be a massiah and the new testament says that Jesus is the massiah, which is not in the Jewish holy books or Muslim Koran. The reason i say we worship a different God is b/c Jesus is God and they do not believe that, (yes what is coming up goes againts what i said and i think that Jews and christians worship the same God in the old testament.) Ill try to explain more but have to go play with my dog, ill make another post this evening or something. If you dont understand this post which i am rushed to post ill edit it or post again.

Very true.
One has to be true and one has to be false. (or all have to be false.)
There are similarities but there is one huge difference.
Do we know our savior? Can we have a relationship with Him? Do we work our way to heaven without ever knowing if we have done enough to make it?
Yes, Yes, No.
Jesus is a savior we can and do know personally. No works will ever be enough.

A lot of people see it just the opposite. When things go wrong they turn to God right away and either curse him for their misfortune or they blame him. Some only turn to God when something bad happens and ask him to get them out of it. When something good happens they don't even think of God.
There is a verse in scriptures that goes something like this. All good things come from your Father in heaven.

I have no idea why people really really really think about GOd. and I dont know why poeple call God him or other call God her. Also it is believed that if you think about god like way too much then you will become crazy because ther is no way you could prove something about God that it is only a creator and we know nothing about God. I just found this one and I wish I found it when it starts. I am a firm believer in doing things myself. In total reality, there is no God. And even if there was, He (for the sake of me being lazy) doesn't need to do anything. God is our creator because humans don't understand where we came from which is something that cannot be proven by science or other methods...right now. Also, God was created by people because we didn't know the answer to how we got here. Just think, if we were not here, the notion of God would not even exist, even if it did amongst other living things, it wouldn't matter because our lack of existence prevents that from even being a thought. Now, if everyone starts to believe in something, they will pass that on to some people, who, in turn, will pass it on to other people, etc. But back in the old days it was all word of mouth and stories got botched along the way because people's minds are strutured different from one another. (just imagine a major game of telephone) What one person hears, their mind paints a picture and whatever picture they paint becomes their reality, and they use that picture to explain things to others.
God was a thought, then a theory, then a story, then God was a method used in an equation that was an attempt to solve the 'where do we come from' question.
So, God is basically a fabrication of people who need some static parent figure that we are supposed to image because someone put it in the minds of people that we need to be in check. And religion is a great way to brainwash people into spending money on donations to their church and stuff like that because they are afraid to go to hell.
I don't believe in God. If God exists, then He exists. Good for him. But here on earth, I'm doing what I am set out to do. No one is going to stop me, not even God. And if He exists, then He knows what I'm doing because of the basic priciples of onmipotence in divine figures...

you write a huge book, call it the truth, let it go around the world for 2000 years and see if it can go without being proved wrong... ofcourse you can't. so how can you say people made up the Bible? no one has been able to prove even the smallest part of it wrong for 2000 years and yet you still have no faith.... please, I welcome you to explain it to me

I don't know if this was directed toward me: The Bible is a book of stories written by people throughout the course of time. The New Testament is basically a bunch of stories about a man that actually existed. These stories have meanings. Those meanings are ways to set moral standards in people because people always need a parent figure to help show them how to live properly...and religion is a way of doing that...and the Bible is a way to do that. It imposes a set of standards that people should follow in order to live happily. Now, these stories are supposed to be open to interpretation, but many people allow certain figures to determine those stories for them...and when that happens, these stories somehow become conrete and people live by these stories and this causes problems.
The Bible cannot be proven wrong because they are stories.
Also, I do have faith, but not in a book or an intangible parent-figure. I have faith in myself; knowing that no one can do anything better for me, than me.

THE SOLUTION TO EVERYTHING IN THIS THREAD:
Read.................The....................Bible. ...................
Chronicles 4:10
And Jabez called on The Lord of Israel, saying, Oh that thou would bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.
Psalms 118:24
This is the day that The Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
A few things to keep in mind... the Bible has the answer to everything.

Exactly. The only people who 'need all the answers' are pathetic, insecure beings.
Who cares about the answers to life? I have dozens of questions and zero answers, but I'm enjoying life more than ever.

Well have a fun eternity in Hell! I have a ton of questions no one can answer either, but thats just because we aren't supposed to know everything...
I won't even continue with this post because I'll just end up pissing someone off and no one here is open minded enough to consider anything I say anyways
