Yea I guess we're both right -- the 350 does have somewhat of a muscular sound... not a clunking noise though :D

do you know what i said?
did not say clunky. said thumpy.
a v8 has a distinctly different sound than a viper...
what i said was that a viper has a smoother rev to it, not that the vette clunks.
do not ever fucking tell me to stop talking crazy shit.
you just agreed with what i said.
damn.
"Get your facts straight before you start talking crazy talk."
everyone else understands what i meant there, and you are the only one who said i sound crazy.
and i also said the viper sounded like a smooth import. never said an import sounded clunky either. "not a clunking noise though"
why am i even bothering to correct, because you changed your opinion and made up words i didnt use... and you agreed on the sound of a v8. and the "type" of 350 doesnt matter, it is the cam that causes the lumpy sound.
humor me and read what i said, and you will see that it makes perfect sense... everything but the part about the 5.7 part, which i corrected.
but the le mans car does use a 6liter.

just to clear things up, gm high tech performance magazine did a test between a 2002 z06 vette and a gts viper, the fastest viper time was 11.98 s at 117.7 mph, the vettes fastest was 12.42 s at 112.7 mph. thats a pretty big difference almost 1/2 a sec. and if you wanna go faster in the viper get an acr!
NismoDrifts

Yeah, with 2 more cylinders, id expect to be faster......
.........now, put them both on a nice curvy road racing course and see whos faster....

its not really the number of cylinders that matters here though, size matters a bit, with over a 2 liter diff... however, it all comes down to power to weight...
was that zo6 tested the one w/ 385 or 405 hp?
that makes a big difference...
if you threw em on a curvy road the zo6 would eat that thing up, with its special tires and racing based susp...
even the acr couldnt catch that... i believe that when road & track tested the viper and zo6 and the cobra r, the zo6 eked it out over the viper on a very twisty track... the viper has way too much torque on a handling course, even the acr... which i believe is what was tested...
another thing to note with those two cars in drag racing is that if you put a fairly experienced driver in each and tell em to launch it, the viper will most likely lose b/c of the massive tirespin...
all in all, by the time you have mastered the viper's power, you are throwing up really quick consistent numbers with the vette, with a more manageable tq curve...

good point.. it was the 385 hp model, never saw that part. plus being 30 g cheaper than the viper, im pretty sure you could buy enough mods with the difference to smoke damn near anything on the road.

Yeah flyslwsi, i dunno if i explained it poorly or not, but i meant that the z06 would win out on a curved course, coz its just insane.
Didnt think about the torque thing though, i guess its fair game there.

Hehe, I got your pm. It was good for a laugh. As for the Viper Vs. the Z06. I have seen the ACR drag race against the Z06, and the Viper killed it. Both drivers drag race professionally and both cars were stock. They do need to find a way to improve on handling though.

I loved the movie, not enough action-packed racing for my taste, but it was off da hook. I think that the Orange Supra is the tightest, either that or the RX-7. The Supra isn't a "10-second car" in real life, but it is still pretty tight. It was just sold for like $100,000, not too long ago I believe, If I remember correctly. The car has serious potential. It looked hella tight too.
NismoDrifts

Yeah, i thought the graphics on the side of the car, like a spaceship taking off on the rx7, and eagle or something on the eclipse, that kind of stuff was gay as hell, but other than that the cars looked real nice, loved that rx7....

Well I haven't seen the movie yet, I boycotted it. But when I see it the Skyline will be my fav. What model was it? R33 or R34, I'm hoping it as a GTR right?
Oh and a throwback to the Viper vs. the z06 (Sorry guys, I just gotta bring it up agian) I saw a video on my friends computer were a z06 cought a Viper GTs and passed it on a road course. I'm not sure if they were both stock but I think the viper had to have a new exhaust on it 'cause even in the video you could hear it halfway around a turn when the vette was off the gas breaking the Viper was accelerating out of the turn. Personaly I'd love to drive um both, but I think i'd have to go for the z06 for the handeling.

Alex, I'd have to say that it's pretty ignorant of you to slam me for my personal opinions without knowing anything about me. I love skylines and I'd say that in any situation were there was a skyline and other cars, my eyes would be on the GTR. I really don't appretiate being labled for my own personal taste. I may change my mind after seeing it but, from what I've heard of it and what cars are in it, the Skyline would be my fav and that would be because ohh I donno, the skyline is my favo car...... I'm sure that all the cars in the movie are bad ass, i'm not knockin any of the cars by any means. I'll be the first to say I love all great cars, I'm just saying that I like skylines. it was a gst or a gsx...
it had the 4g63 motor in it(or whatever the name of the mitsu turbo
motor is), when you get the DVD, check the scene
when they pop the hood...
In the nonturbo's, it has a BLACK valvecover(or whatever those things
are called) and the motor is on the left, as opposed to the motor being
on the right on the turbo models. Some of the mitsu turbo's had red
valvecovers on them, and i think this one did too...
Remember, they built like 8 of those cars to be doubles...it would make
sense to just build one really nice one as a fully done up showcar...and
then use the crappy gs models for the scenes where they launch it
off jumps and blow the thing up...lol....the ones auctioned off on ebay
were the other seven ones most likely. Not only that...other people had
done up their own cars to look like that, even prior to the release of
the movie, and then tried to push them off as the real thing.

I watched the Fast and Furious and got a kick out of it. Most of the performance scenes were more entertaining than real life but hell that is hollywood.
Ok for those that care.
The Yellow car was a R33 GTR. It is owned by Sean Miller of MotoRex. The produces over 650 bhp but was on loan for the movie. That is it. No way was Sean going to let them do much with a car over the $120,000 mark that he owned. I guess pretty smart.
All in all the story line was ok. The car action pretty good. Lots of good driving by the guys in the three black Honda's. Man big balls.
I would give it a 7 out of 10 because of the car action. 4 for Acting
As far as the Viper, Vette, and Lambo's. That is a non-issue in this thread so who cares.

An exhaust on the turbo would do a lot since it would make the turbo push some madass boost. The boost controller on the other hand would just keep the turbo from overboosting... it's main purpose it to reduce boost not spike it through the roof.
The movie car was a non turbo GS... all it had performance wise was an exhaust and intake. It has a boost gauge and NOS stickers but didnt have a turbo OR nitrous! It was some show car made by some asian group. All show no go! Posers.. but the car was still cool especially since it was all HOLLYWOOD and you can at least friggin pretend they're 10 sec cars!

My town's pretty small but we still had a couple rice burners show up. Personally I can't really dig a car that has to sound like a pissed off chainsaw, and have a five foot wing sticking off the trunk and some crazy ground effects just to draw attention. Plus when is the last time a Front drive anything ran 4's in the quarter. I know top fuels don't really count, but for real when a front drive civic runs 4's or even 5's let me know. Anywho back to the movie, whats up with the 5 minute long (not really but...) drag scenes? are they really that slow? Probably :)

4's 5's... what the hell are you smoking? They were talking about 10 second cars! 10 is blazing fast... just to let you know your firebird probably runs 15's or 16's if it's a a V6 and maybe high 14's if it's a V8 at best. And I dont think they even meant 10 sec flat... probably high 10's. The RX-7 and 240SX were both RWD... along with others here and there. The Eclipse was supposedly an awd car but the movie car they used was fwd. With a little over 400hp to the wheels an Eclipse GSX COULD run high 10's because of the launch... especially if you reduce driveline loss and lighten it up a bit. There's ways to get traction on fwd -- to an extent... but enough to screw over your firebird so shut your pie hole.

Yeah my birds a V8 it might run 14's I'm not really sure (no drag racing yet) I said top fuel (you know funny cars and rails) I also said they don't really count for real cars. I do totally agree 10's are really fast :) I'm just waiting for insanely fast FWD right now it really hard cause you break half shafts, but hey if the aftermarket allows I'd still love to see it. Am I that big of a dreamer?:bloated:

Well the fastest street legal supra ran a 9.88@158mph. thats pretty fast for a street legal car. But yeah there arent any pro stock imports that can get around 6 or 7 in the 1/4, to expensive, and to much work! I saw a 87 rx-7 run a 10.55, but it had an old buick engine in it, it was also beefed up!

hmmmmm, 10.55 from an RX-7, yeah that definitly didn't have the standard rotary engine in it. Because if it did it would have done much better with the proper mods. There is no engine every concieved that is more powerful then the rotary. Long live the Wankel!

yup, id have to agree, theres nothing better than a rotary....

Fastest street legal Supra ran 9.88?
You sure buddy?
I know of 2 Street Legal Supra with FULL INTERIOR that are faster then that...In fact, one of them is a street racer here in Chicago.
The other is owner of Sound Performance, one of the best Supra tuning shops in the WORLD.
Now, to stay on topic, I thought the movie was lame.
The lingo was dumb.
The word "NAUS" was said every 15 seconds.
Cars shot FIRE out of their f*kin' exhaust pipes.
Races took place on MAIN STREETS and were literally 1/2 mile or longer.
Every car in the movie had some sorta sticker, wing or both.
The Charger looked nice. But that wheelstand it pulled in the end was VERY fake.

Fastest street legal Supra runs 9.88s? You sure about that buddy?
I know of 2 Supras in IL alone that are not only street legal, but also have full interior and BOTH are faster then that. Check out www.SupraStore.com for the timeslips.
Now, to stay on topic I'll give MY opinion of the movie....
I thought it was VERY LAME.
The word "NAUS" was used every 15 seconds.
The "lingo" was retarded.
Ever car had a wing, sticker or both.
Cars shot flames out of their exhaust.
Nitrous isn't explosive, and it burns WHITE, not green.
Floorboards don't fly off the car when you have a Nitrous backfire.
You CERTAINLY can't DRIVE the car after you've had a nitrous backfire.
The Charger in the movie LOOKED nice, but the wheel stand was GAY and VERY FAKE!

Flames CAN shoot out of ur exhaust... just run it rich and put a spark plug on ur tip! Nitrous DOESNT burn but it DOES oxidize the fire around it a lot, making it burn like a violent bitch and "explode." As far as that goes it was accurate. .
The nitrous didn't backfire -- wtf is that anyway? He blew a piston ring. Haven't you ever heard of races longer than 1/4 miles???
Stickers ---> advertisements, sponsors, and just look cool to an extent (depending on who you ask)

Hey what up everyone when i was younger i thought mustangs were the best car ever mad funny huh.but ne ways now i am 15 in an automotive shop at a tech school and have learned many more things about engines i realize they come no where near the best car .
So now i kinda like an 86 pontiac fiero gt 6 cylinder 5 spd tranny manual is a kinda nice car the only thing is i dont really see why people put them down so much i think there a pretty good car for there size i mean look how small it is imagina a car like that with stock 145 h.p. having like 300 h.p you would prolly kill your self if you got in to a crash . i am planning on getting one and getting alot of parts for it to make it look like a kool car from the fast and ferious.
As for my favorite car i liked the Rx -7 or Doms car and the supra was sweet to . i also liked the eclipse even with the fake turbo. But the charger comes preety close seeing ass though it didnt even need nos in that last race even thoug half the movie was fake that car was kool.
What do you guys have to say bout Fieros and also do you think i could ever get a 86 pontiac gt fiero to look like a cool car like one form the fast n the ferious thanks peace . Also i am mexican and everyone knows how asians and hispanic people like to hook up our cars .

I ve heard somewhere That you can get flames to shoot out of the exhaust by taking out something called a baffle or something like that does ne one know what that is all about if you could let me know i would appreciate it alto thanks

Excuse me alex, but you max power(the magazine) lovin import freaks can really piss me off...
your statement " i dont like old cars because they depress me" in reference to the CHARGER is completely off base.
for one thing, thirty years is not old, and i being a man of thirty some odd years take offense to that comment.
also, you made a comment that "the supra has 700 hp in real life" which is complete bullshit, a stock supra has standard 325 hp, while even the best turbo kits can only bring it to about 450 hp, so in real life (not the movies) you will find no supra that has 700 hp.
im sorry if i strayed but i just had to enlighten our young friend, my main point is that the birthplace of these riced out pieces of crap is those "old cars" that alexb so calicely refers too.
