Ayrton Senna's Final Victory: Australia 1993

Initially, I had planned for this kit to be built into Hakkinen's car. But I later changed my mind and decided to remove the #7 decals and build it into Senna's Adelaide victory, his final win. Kit went together very well, I added lots of carbon in the appropriate places, the correct "Tencel" and "Berlucchi" sponsors for the Oz GP, and my first attempt at some detail wiring. I could've added more wires to the engine, but I did not have the correct size and variety of wires to use, and also frankly, I got a little tired of it.

Please comment and feel free to be honest. You won't hurt my feelings.

Looks excellent Dave.
Well done for finishing it.

I must get stuck into my F1 collection soon.

Great work Dave. This is one model I do not have in my to-build stash; however, it is one that I now want to build!

Kind regards,
Bill

Brilliant work.I think you have made a fantastic job with the masking for the main body colors they look spot on.I can't believe you used TS-36 for the red areas.Whenever I have used it I always end up with a pink color, but yours does have the correct 'orangey' look to it.The carbon looks pretty neat as well.My only criticism is the pictures are a little on the big side and I have to keep scrolling back and forth across the screen The model though is perfect!!!!

Great work, I know painting that single piece rear wing is a pain in the a$$!

Re: Ayrton Senna's Final Victory: Australia 1993

Bill, I think you should finish your F189 and 023 before thinking about starting another one. Seriously though, you should pick this kit up when you get the chance as it looks stunning when completed. The only issues I've had with it is the one piece rear wing like Pawlie mentioned, and the thickness of certain parts, particularly the cowl as it was a tight squeeze already before I had done any wiring. I look forward to seeing some modelling from you soon!

Sorry about the large pics Steve. I have my monitor set at a very high resolution which is why I have them so big. I'll size them to 800x600 next time. As for the TS-36, I had to put about 6 coats of it before it looked right. It starts off looking pink at first, but by the 4th coat it should look right.

Very nice work! Considering this is your first effort at detailing you've done an excellent job. If I could give you any advice it would be to add a dark wash to your painted parts. It can really improve the look and realism of parts. I'll look out for your next build!

Looks fantastic! Doesn't seem like your first time wiring and I love all the little details. Is the rear cowling not sitting right because of the wires? And for some reason in the last photo, the front looks slightly twisted..that's just the camera angle I hope...?

Re: Ayrton Senna's Final Victory: Australia 1993

I've never been a Mclaren fan but the Marlboro cars were the very best looking cars on the grid. With Senna in them I had to support them. You did the cars proud with your build. Very sharp! I may have to start mine one day and use your's as a template!

Sweet looking MP4/8! Nice engine detail too. The Marlboro red looks dead on! Great job!

Re: Ayrton Senna's Final Victory: Australia 1993

I love it!! That looks great! My only recommendation would be to put some dull coat on the tires... Other than that, I hope mine looks as good when I'm done!!

Wonderful build! One suggestion would be to sand the rest of the mold lines on the tires.

I loved how you used different CF patterns too.
