Have you built your own car?

I know this may be a sore subject for some... :o don't mean to open any old wounds... but...

Have you built a replica of your own car in scale?
If so, tell us all about it! Or better yet, show us pics! Side by side comparisons welcome! :sun:

I have not. No kit exists of a 3rd generation Honda Accord, and the closest thing would be a Prelude of the time (which isn't really that close.) I may have to do the wife's car.... A Toyota ECHO. :o :hehe:

Cool My 1988 Mustang LX 5.0 sedan

This is the only model I've made of the 9 cars and one motorcycle that I've owned.

This was built from about 5 different kits, long before any resin was available. Body was an '83 Mustang convertible w/SVO roof and TBird Turbo coupe rear window and trim, front end modified from the New Monkees Mustang convertible. Interior/motor a combination of MPC and Monogram parts from 1988 kit sources.

I took pix of my car, used the photographs for the tag and the emblems.

I haven't yet, but I am in the process of sourcing the paint for the body, Subaru Brilliant Red, and I am getting some Tamiya parts to do the interior door detail as the '98 WRC model door detail is actually close to my car, I will modify it to be exact.
I have the fujimi kit, like the one Daggerlee just built for the basis of my car, but I am going to build it as a '98 2.5 RS.....

I've made the replica based on two existing cars for my room mate and friend, but strangely not mine yet. Ex-my car is in progress, and '81 280ZX kit is converted to '83, and waiting for the interior to be done.
The completed two cars were '84 Thunderbird based on the drag car with '87 chassis and rear finders from a Monogram kit. I forgot what I did to the interior, but it was fairly accurate. The other was the Murker XR4Ti, which was based on Tamiya's Sierra kit with 4cyl turbo from Monogram's '87 Thunderbird kit, custom photo etched badges and scratchbuilt wheels.
Sadly, no photos...

I had a semi-replica of my old car (2000 Integra GSR using the Revel ITR painted red with carbon fiber hood just like my real car) but they don't have an Eclipse model out yet so I have to wait. When it comes out, hopefully I can find some rims that look close to Volk GTN's so I can make an accurate replica.

I'm driving a - boring - french Citroen ZX 1.9D, no one ever did a kit except for Heller in 1/43 scale, but then it was the ZX Rally Raid car "Paris Dakar winner", not even close! I wouldn't mind though driving the Rally Raid one on a daily basis.

Right now I'm looking in replacing it, by a Citroen Xsara VTR 110 HDI, but also there: no chance, except for again Heller in 1/24 scale, but this time it's the WRC and the VTR's not even close either. Again, I wouldn't botter to drive a WRC road version on a daily basis - Like Scoob WRX or Lancer EVO7... But Citroen has no plans in that direction, so...

Maybe I should buy a Merc , at least then I can do a model of my own car
