Scuderia 16M, feat Autodecepticon & khngmy
Hello everyone! 1 of my buddy suggested to do a duo built. so we agreed to build Ferrari Scuderia 16M. Let me fire this up!
We are using the same kit, Ferrari F430 Spyder and Ferrari 430 Scuderia, both Fujimi. we tried to convert to 16M without sacrificing any kit. Thats mean we gonna complete a 16M and a F430. Been figure out how to convert the bumper with minimum risk. this is what i got. Both 430 spyder and scuderia had the same mold line at the back. im using that as my cutting line. ![]() ![]() here is the result. ![]() I didnt choose to cut the bumper is because, 1st, i dont want to risk the panel lines. 2nd, there is a front lamp housing at the back of scuderia bumper, which is in between the bumper panel line. 3rd, dont want to risk over sand the scuderia sharper bumper edge when doing putty work if i choose to cut bumper. ![]() the result after test fit. i will get this 16M body done before proceed to fix F430 body. ![]() Rear bumper i had no choice but to cut it by follow the panel lines, with the help of scriber, needle and drill. ![]() the result. some parts need to be fill... ![]() test fit together with the chassis... sit on nicely. ![]() ![]() the gap between bumper and rear hatch filled, front bumper attached. ![]() ![]() thats all for now. All comments are welcome!

Ouch!
That's one solution I would never have tried. I wonder why Fujimi didn't just make a 16m. Win or lose I know i'll learn something from your efforts.

Re: Scuderia 16M, feat Autodecepticon & khngmy
Hi guys, so it’s my turn to post up some WIPs for the “Project 16M”. It’s always great to have a buddy who loves supercars and loves building scale models at the same time! We’ve been discussing and planning for a duo-build in 2013, at first we thought of building a super-detailed Enzo together but the Scuderia 16M somehow just came across our mind and now we turned our ideas into action!
I’m not really good in building scale models, especially doing big modifications or chopping the car into half and glue them back together, so this project consider as one of the most challenging project for me, thanks to autodecepticon, now I’m challenging myself into a new level of scale modeling.. Let’s get started! I’m using Fujimi Ferrari 430 Scuderia and Ferrari F430 Spider to make a Scuderia 16M. As I don’t wanna waste a kit just to make a spider version of the Scuderia, our plan is to cut the bumpers and swap the bumpers among the 2 bodies. So at the end of the project, we’ll get 2 good looking Ferraris… ![]() Photo before the transplant surgery being conducted: ![]() Using a similar technique as autodecepticon, I started cutting down the front end following the mold lines so that it will not compromise the panel lines of the front bumpers... ![]() The Scud’s plastic is a little too thick, spent quite some time just to cut the front end… ![]() ![]() Now here’s the photo of the 2 front ends being cut…so there’s no turning back anymore… ![]() Rear bumpers were being treated in the same way too… ![]() Test fitting, so far it seems to be good but still lots of work to do... ![]() Thanks for reading..comments and critics are welcome! |

Re: Scuderia 16M, feat Autodecepticon & khngmy
Thanks Kris and BVC500…we’ll try to share more of the progress in converting the Scuderia into a Scuderia 16M without scarifying a F430 Spider kit, so that in the future whoever wants to try doing it, they might be able to get some idea from us…sharing is caring!
![]() More progress from my side today…Attached the side skirts and used masking tape to hold the rear bumper in order to facilitate the attachment of the front end… Glued a piece of 0.25mm pla-plate under the front hood of the Spider to act as a backbone when I glue the front end together… ![]() As the plastic body of the Scuderia is thicker than the Spider, I trimmed down the thickness of the front end and test fitting with the Spider body to ensure that the front end will stay align with the body… ![]() This is how it looks like so far, still have quite a lot of putty works here and there, let’s just keep the Scud aside and work on the F430 body… ![]() Before moving to the F430, let’s have a sneak peak of the photos of the twin brothers...hahaha.. ![]() ![]() The rear mesh of the original F430 kit need to be removed and replace with Tamiya mesh/metal mesh…I cut the mesh using self-made scriber and a stationary knife with new blade… ![]() ![]() Test fitting the rear bumper and the coupe’s body, looks quite nice to me…but there are some gaps between the rear bumper and the body, still need some putty to cover ‘em up… ![]() Test fitted the side skirt with the coupe’s body and it didn’t fit well as the body was originally molded for Scud side skirt, not the normal F430… The side skirt was not aligning with the body, so I removed the original part, trimmed down the skirt and added a piece of thin-0.25mm pla-plate at each connection point. ![]() Here is the result of the modification on the left side skirt… ![]() And on the right side… ![]() Ran out of cement at the moment…gotta stock up first before proceeding…that’s all for now…

Yo KH Ng buddy, you are fast man... no one will believe that this is your 1st attempt on major modification if didnt know you personally
. hahaha. you are really a fast picker. after this, the rest of your built will be different. you already a step a head to build even more quality built . Ok, is my turn.filled the gap with polyester putty and smoothed it. follow by white putty. ![]() ![]() Side vent of the bumper filled and smoothed. ![]() ![]() rear hatch vent removed. side by side with buddy's 16M. ![]() ![]() thats all for now, all comment are welcome ya. do share more. have a nice day!

Hi Tom, I've been following your Ferrari builds and your 16M was impressive too!
Andy, your 458 Italia is one of a kind too! any updates from yours duo build? Maybe we can exchange some thoughts too! haha.. Vince, I heard that you will not be building any cars this year and will only focus on aircraft carrier...will this build motivate you? =P |

Re: Scuderia 16M, feat Autodecepticon & khngmy
More progress on the F430…
![]() To glue the front end to the body, I glued a piece of 0.25mm plate-plate under the front hood to act as a support for the front end. ![]() ![]() Then, trim down the excess plastic at the wheel arc and the front. ![]() ![]() Test fitting the front end and it did not fit too well… ![]() ![]() So I sanded the inner part of the front end, thin it down in order to fit it to the body and not bulging up… ![]() ![]() ![]() Apply some thin cement on the plastic card and fixed the front end with the body using masking tape… ![]() ![]() Test fitting with the chassis, everything fits well for now… ![]() ![]() ![]() Started to cut out the plastic mesh of the engine bay in the 16M, 3 more to go… ![]() That’s all from my side, hope you guys enjoy reading it… ![]() ![]()
