Camry died - won't start
93 camry won't start - no spark. Checked fuel pump - squirts out of top of filter when loosened. Seems OK. Coil checks OK for primary and secondary resistances per Haynes manual. How do I check the igniter? Could it still be the coil?
Thank you for any answers you provide. Tim |

Crankshaft Position Sensor.
Did you check for spark to the plugs? The computer gets it's signal to spark from the CPS. You say it is getting fuel, it is obviously getting air. 2/3rds of the requirements are being met. What about spark? |

Check that the distributor rotates when the engine is cranked. Could be your timing belt. If the distributor rotates, and you're getting 12 v power to the distributor, I would replace the coil first thing. It is the number one ignition problem you'll see, by far. You can't test the ignitor, except by replacing it with a known good one.

Re: Camry died - won't start
Even though the coil tested good, you should still remove it from the distributor and check it for hairline cracks. Many times they crack and short themselves to ground on any metal inside the distributor. This can happen even if they test in-spec.
