Honda Super CUB Fujimi 1/12
I decided to build this Honda little "monster" simply OOB.
I hope that it will be quick build not as tiresome as ARTA NSX. I am also pretty sure that you will see CUB's WIPs of my polish colleagues. What can we find in box? Here come pics: Overall mold quality is very good as well as parts fitment. Some dry fited parts Ejector pin marks and places which are hard to reach and correct. I have started with basic cleanup and minor modifications which consist of: 1) New gearbox nuts changed from hex to cross type 2) Corrected part of the gearbox housing to fit nut 3) Modified knobs of bike side "housings" Green arrow shows rescribed panel lines to make them look more real. Tamiya tape used to protect body while cutting knob off. Hope you will like it. Stay tuned |

Cool looking kit and the mods will look great, I'm sure.
You've got to have a Domino's Pizza top box on it! |

Re: Honda Super CUB Fujimi 1/12
I really don't think this will be a quick build. I'm pretty sure we will be amazed as we were with the Arta. I love the subject matter, clearly a very original and cool project. I would love to have one in real. Looking forward to more progress.

Re: Honda Super CUB Fujimi 1/12
Thank you for the all of the kind words...
I wouldn't like to disappoint you guys but I planned this model as a quick build without lots of modifications. Will see. Fujimi did not provided any chain or chain guard so on the first picture you can notice how bad it looks. Raal Cub has chain guard. So I build simple one using plastic sheet. I think I will keep it simple as it is. It looks pretty close to the real thing. In the meantime I have dechromed wheels. They are clearcoated underneath so I need strip this layer as well. They are not perfect but I am sure I will manage to clean them up and achieve decent paint finish. Last edited by Macio4ever; 05-07-2011 at 04:16 AM. |

Not much time lately... Short update.
Right swing arm finished with a stripe of styrene instead of putty. Frame glued and primed. Some minor imperfections revealed. |

Re: Honda Super CUB Fujimi 1/12
Body finished and primed with Gunze Surfacer 1200. I will not go further with painting as I think that it would be more fit tests and some still undiscovered issues to address What's more I would like to maintain the same shade of paint for all of the panels.
I continue with cleaning parts and now stopped at engine head. There are two big nuts which were oversimplified by Fujimi. I think I will replace them – those ones pointed by arrows. PS: I remember to keep it OOB |

Re: Honda Super CUB Fujimi 1/12
Just a quick update - front fork filled with Tamiya Epoxy Putty. Next it will be cleaned and primed.
I am still at the cleaning stage so it is nothing fancy but stay tuned. Some more updates will be soon. |

Re: Honda Super CUB Fujimi 1/12
I can build OOB, I can, I....
Short update: Many of the parts are cleaned and primed. Still chromed ones left. I think I may use some of them as they are without my own re-chroming. Next step is to check them for any surface imperfections, correct if any and prepare for color painting. New swing arm shaft (nut) - it was easier to use plastic rod than clean old one. 1 minute job. Small correction on the dampers. I have cut small groove to simulate clearance between damper parts (white arrow). If I had a lathe that would be a fun... |

Re: Honda Super CUB Fujimi 1/12
Oh no! You might be right!
Short update. M.Boy teased me few times and I did another small mod - oil cap. Maybe it is too small comparing to pictures... Another try Hopefully final one I started paint job to avoid temptations to abandon OOB route. Last edited by Macio4ever; 05-29-2011 at 04:16 AM. |
