Re: AFMOTY 2007 Comp

Thanks guys I' hope the AFMOTY can continue to be as good as it has in the past. I mainly put that Nurburgring tie breaker in there to see if people were paying attention. Guess they are!

As for specific questions:

rod_k2: I think it would be best to show off our work in the best possible light so a fully completed model is the way to go. If it is not finished in time there is always next year. I fact I'd recommend taking your time and not rushing for a deadline.

Luchato: No, there are no separate categories in this comp, just a showcase of the best AF has to offer for the year.

mikemechanic: I'd prefer it if you send a link to a specific photo that you think best represents your model in the comp.

klutz_100: A watermark or name of the model should be okay. But what is most important is a big, clear photo, extra text mostly just clutters things up.

Thanks to MidMazar and geronimo77 for offering prizes - you guys rock! In the past I've been let down by people promising things which is why I wrote that there would be no prizes above. But I know you guys are good for it and if some prizes encourages more entries then that is great!

Entries have slowly started to hit my inbox - keep 'em coming!

P.S. I have decided that since I'm running the comp it would be best if I don't enter myself.

Phil, I was talking with two eminent AF members - Mr. Ping and Mr. Pong - and they authorized me to tell you that they will happily provide a sets of 612 Scaglietti "China Tour" decals for the 3 top placed builds if you want them.

Very noble and correct but, speaking for myself, not necessary - unless you feel strongly about it.

I believe multimedia kits are allowed but 100% diecasts usually haven't been.

Re: AFMOTY 2007 Comp

I entered a multi-media kit last year, no issue. I think as long as it comes boxed in a whole bunch of separate pieces that require glueing and painting then it's fair game.

RR, as Hawk queried, can you tell us how many entries we have so far?

Re: AFMOTY 2007 Comp

Lownslow, no the comp is not limited to plastic kits. Resin and metal are allowed, even diecasts could be, so long as they were torn apart and rebuilt.

As for entries - it has been kinda slow so far. Only 11 entries have been received. I was looking through the history of the comp and numbers in each year have been:

2002 - 38 entries
2003 - 45 entries
2004 - 45 entries
2005 - 28 entries
2006 - 39 entries

So I hope more models will be forthcoming in the next few weeks and we can get somewhere around the 30 to 40 mark.

Re: AFMOTY 2007 Comp

1. Select image size 800x600

then

2. select "save for web". Set an appropriate image quality and it will show you the size of the final image. Save at the quality that will give you an image size 150k or less
