************************************************** *****

Everyone is of course welcome to enter and for now, the Group will be open ended in terms of entry date. We will look at this again at the end of the year. Entries can be of any of the cars these guys have driven / co-driven over the years and does not just mean Rallying. Basically if the car had one of these guys names on the side then it counts!

If you PM me your entry and include your

a: name, car make and model,
b: year of competition
c: scale

I will add it to the list here and include a links to your WIP & when ready & Completed thread. THIS IS NOT A COMPETITION so please dont worry if you think yours is not as good as some others as that is not the point of it. I also have no problem if more than one model is built of the same car, it really doesnt matter as this is all meant as a gesture of recognition to these wonderful stars who have unfortunately now left us.

So far the cars available to choose from are as follows:

Michael Park (with Markko Märtin):
2000 Toyota Corolla
2000 Subaru Imprezza (Azores Rally)
2001 Subaru Imprezza
2002 Ford Focus
2003 Ford Focus
2004 Ford Focus
2005 Peugeot 307

Colin McRae (with Derek Ringer upto 1996 and then Nicky Grist):
1989 Ford Sierra Cosworth
1992 Subaru Legacy
1993 Subaru Legacy
1994 Subaru Imprezza
1995 Subaru Imprezza (World Champion)
1996 Subaru Imprezza
1997 Subaru Imprezza
1998 Subaru Imprezza
1999 Ford Focus
2000 Ford Focus
2001 Ford Focus
2002 Ford Focus
2003 Citroen Xsara
2005 Skoda
2006 Citroen Xsara & Subaru Imprezza (USA Rally)
plus
Le Mans & Paris-Dakar vehicles.

Richard Burns (with Robert Reid):
1990 Peugeot 205GTI and 309GTI
1991 Peugeot 205GTI and 309GTI
1992 Subaru Legacy Group N
1993 Subaru Legacy Group N
1994 Subaru Impreza Group A
1995 Subaru Impreza Group A and Group N
1996 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo III
1997 Mitsubishi Carisma GT
1998 Mitsubishi Carisma GT Evo IV
1999 Subaru Imprezza
2000 Subaru Imprezza
2001 Subaru Imprezza (World Champion)
2002 Peugeot 206
2003 Peugeot 206

All three of these guys also obviously raced at National Level, so if you know of or want (and can find) to build a model of cars not listed here then all the better.

according to Wikipedia & Rally World these are all now correct (I have double checked this time).

Feel free to use any of the banners if you would like to. I look forward to seeing some fabulous models as always.

Re: The Richard Burns, Colin McRae & Michael Park Group Tribute Build

Hi Sean
This is a real great idea you have. Is there going to be a time frame in which you have your car done? I am in the middle of a build right now and wouldn't be able to start the tribute till the middle of next month.

Dave,

no, no time frame so no problem at all. Let me know which model when you have decided! :-)

Re: The Richard Burns, Colin McRae & Michael Park Group Tribute Build

I will be building Colin McRae's 1992 Rally Sweden Legacy (a year which you've omitted from the list), I may also add one of the Group N Impreza's to the mix if I have time.

Also add to your list:
1994 - 1995 Richard Burns drove for Subaru in the third Group N Impreza

1993 I believe he drove a Legacy as a junior but will confirm for you later.

There must be a confusion here, is it...?

Concerning Colin Mc Rae, I've just seen somewhere he also drove a Peugeot 205 GTi in 1988 RAC rally !
is it correct ?
does anyone have a picture of the car ?

Colin also test a F1 car some years ago, A Jordan F1 if I can well remember.

Richard Burns drove a 309 GTi in the 90 to 92 RAC rallies, tkere is a 1/43 kit of the car but no decals...
Richard also drove the beautifull Rothmans Mitsu EVO 3 in 96 NZ rally.
That would be a very nice model !

Michael Park co-drove Abdulah Bakhashab in the Marlboro Corolla in 99... I think the decal may exist...

Those rar models would be nice too in this group build, who will dare ?

Phil,

thanks for pointing that out - my mistake! It was actually Michael Park's car that aliburke is going to build and obviously not Colin McRae's.

Culled the ideas down to this beauty, a 2003 Monte Beef/Markko Focus.
Still keen on a 1998 RAC Burns Evo V and Group A McRae Impreza at some stage too.

Re: The Richard Burns, Colin McRae & Michael Park Group Tribute Build

I'm in. It'll be my first Mcrae build too. I had planned just last weekend to build something for the 2008 Modelsport show over here in blighty next April. So, I've decided I'll show it as a Grp build, though I won't be starting it until November due to other projects.

I'll do Colin's 1999 Martini Ford Focus.

Re: The Richard Burns, Colin McRae & Michael Park Group Tribute Build

I'm considering Richard's 1993 Subaru Legacy with 'Elonex' sponsorship as raced on the Manx International rally (but will involve the use of different wheels and possible lowering of the suspension to tarmac specs) or the same car at the 1993 Network Q rally (I can leave the suspension alone and use the kit supplied wheels) The only problem at the minute are the decals.I made most of the artwork before when I briefly touched on this build, but that's as far as I went.I'm considering a laser printer for printing the decals, which I think would do the job better than my inkjet that I have at the minute.
The other model I'm considering is Colin's 1992 Subaru Legacy Rally of Great Britain (Rothmanesque colours) but the decals I have in my Hasegawa kit are all cracked and yellowed and I'm not sure if they can be saved.I hope they can as I don't think printing new ones is an option for this one as gold and white are prominent colours.I need to consider my options I think!! But I hope to be able to do at least one or the other.I'll keep you posted.

Phil,

great choice, I love the colour scheme & what a beast it looks too! I have the Hasegawa (Martini) kit of this one, are you going to add the light pods too?

Steve,

do you know anybody with an alps printer? If you were to send your completed artwork you could get it printed on an alps. If you dont there must be someone on here that owns one who could help you out maybe... have to admit Im extremely tempted to invest in one!

Sean,I don't know anyone who has an Alps printer (are they still available to buy?) I thought they had ceased production of them? My friend at work is buying a colour laser printer, possibly this weekend and he will try some prints for me on laser decal paper to see what the print quality is like before I invest in one myself.Even though it won't print white I can skirt the issue by using white paper for some of the decals. The laser printer should do the decals for Richard's 'Elonex' sponsored car just fine as they are mostly blacks, greys and reds.
I may have sorted the decals for Colin's 1992 Legacy as I found another kit in the loft so I have 2 of the same model.Between the 2 decal sheets I think I can make 1 good one,so I should be fine.If the Alps printers were still available I may be tempted to buy one myself.
