buying a car

I am thinking about buying a 1998 Ford Countor SVT
Is this a good car or a piece?
And people keep telling me they are slow are they really that slow?

No, I hear those cars are pretty fast. And they look cool too. I'd say go for it.

Contour SVT's are nice... I wouldnt call them slow... a few specs..

Curb Weight: 3,068 lbs.

Displacement: 2,544 cc/155 cid
Compression ratio: 10.0:1
Horsepower: 195 @ 6625 rpm
Torque: 165 lb./ft. @ 5625 rpm
Redline: 6,750 rpm (fuel shut-off at 7,000 rpm)
Specific Output: 76.6 hp per liter


0-30 mph: 2.9 seconds
0-60 mph: 7.9 seconds
0-100 mph: 21.2 seconds
Quarter mile: 15.7 seconds @ 88 mph
Top speed: 143 mph

Fuel Economy
EPA City: 20 mpg
EPA Highway: 29 mpg


Not bad for a grocery getter eh? Good luck with your purchase.

Actually, they are pretty slow as performance cars go. They handle really well though, especially for a FWD car.
