Re: you guys need to realize this is a new style

This thread was very random and has done nothing but stir shit up.
I have 4 diffrent friends that live here in Birmingham that have cars like that, They owned cars that where crappy and got deals on big ass sets of wheels that they just slapped on their cars. Not much of a style, just broke bastards who don't really care what you think about their rides. I don't think it has anything to do with race because I have seen people from many diffrent walks of life uglyfy their cars. It is the new "bling-bling" lifestyle everyone tries to live. I call it Ghetto Fabalous.

Lownslow: before you started this thread what happened to make you think we hated these cars?

I personally don't care what anyone does to their cars, or what kind of models they build. You build very interesting models that everyone seems to like. You must expect that when you post your models on a PUBLIC message board someone will give their honnest opinion, that's their right. Keep doing what you like to do because you like it, not because we do.

And no one has to accept this as a style if they don't want to.. YOU need to realize that.

I don't think anyone is disagreeing with you there. It is a very nicely done model that too a lot of effort to build, no matter how gorgeous or ugly the styling may be.

I do, however, agree with the majority of people here in that it is a terrible style that I don't care for one bit. I usually take the stance though its your money, your car. Do what you want with it. I do feel like it is a HUGE waste of money though, since you are putting sooooo much money generally into a piece of garbage car.

Re: you guys need to realize this is a new style

Repsect isnt commanded, it is earned. I respect the builder whether or not the car is ugly, so long as its a good build. There are a lot of models on here that I dont particularly like the style of, but the craftsmanship is impecable.

If you are asking for respect for the cars, you arent going to get it. If you are asking for respect for the models, thats a possibility but respect isnt asked for its earned.

AF as a whole builds all genres of cars, some more than others.

This thread is going to be closely monitored to see if any more shit is stirred. If the case turns from a debate, to a flame war the thread will be locked. Fair warning.

Personally, I don't think ethnicity has anything to do with this style of car as it seems to span a multitude of races and certainly different "classes" (for a lack of a better word) as well. . .

Simply put, the 1 to 1 cars are NOT for me. . . I in fact had no idea "High Riders" even existed. . . Don't really care for the F&F import style either . . .

As for the model, Nice smooth paint but, more pics would be nice to see the extent of your build . . .

Oh and on a final note. . .being shunned isn't anything new to modelers. I've had this crap happen a hundred times over just because I build Lambo's specifically. . .

Come on now guys, each to their own, everybody has their own ideas on what they like so now lets get on with something more interesting, building kits and sharing them with like minded "INDIVIDUALS". Peace and harmony!!!

Well, as I made clear, your craftsmanship and build quality are great. It's the subject matter I detest.

Why didn't you just say this in the first place?
Why on earth did you say this crap?
"For what it's worth, you certainly did contain yourself. It really ISN'T about race. Yes this so-called "style" came from urban black communities, but god knows it only takes a little while before some 18 year old white punk who thinks he's eminem copies it. 15-minutes-of-fame pop culture trends transcend race and religion, unfortunately "

How is this extraneous bs relevant to craftsmanship?

GT400Mike,
So it's okay to preface an ethnic reference with, "I'm going to contain myself"?

Whatever happened to just saying "I don't like it, it's hideous"?

Monitor YOURSELF, then check the threads.

Damn, I didn't even know Highriders existed.

I really don't like that style and I agree with alot of things said in this thread. Weird, funny and ugly.

I have to say, though, your car is really nicely built.

How do you think you can tell a mod how to act? He said he wasn't going tp put race into where it did not belong. This thread is turning into those "looter" threads I have read on other forums. You are making it into something it wasn't meant to be. Lownslow is a great builder. No one seems to like his idea of cool tho. And we can state that as we wish. It is his right to get mad, but must RECOGNIZE and RESPECT it is our opinions. If he doesn't like them, then he doesn't have to listen.

In my honest opininion...they look ridiculous...but to each their own....
on the other hand when you put theses insane big wheelss on any vehicle whether its a escalade, expidiotn, 86 monte carlo as above, there better be some serious upgrades to the brakes. the extra rolling energy created by these wheels is insane......bigger than stock wheels usually end up in inadequate brakes. but thatss just my opinion, and i do know brakes since im a mechanic....my 2 cents

Umm, why are people posting (and responding to) flamebait like this in the car modeling forum? Find another section of AF to post such drivel.
