And thus the ghost of Sir William Lyons will forever haunt you, Captyn Crunch. A DOHC Straight-Six is the ultimate in expressing English power. Just as a V-12 is quintessentially Italian. Just look at the great 6's of the world. Aston Martin, Jaguar, Austin-Healey, Triumph. All of these engines have wondrous torque and sound marvelous when wound out. Plus the fact that none of them make less than 250HP speaks for itself.
In other words, don't knock "antique" engine design. It'll just net you a great glimpse of some tiny British sportster's tail lights. Not necessarily my MGB GT, though. I'm only packing 130 at the rear wheels, and with tires that are about two inches wide, that's too much. Plus, Layla's single SU carb is in pieces as we speak getting rebuilt. She's running rich and fouling plugs. I wish I had the cash for dual Strombergs.

Hey Octagon, have you considered a late Triumph fuel injection system from a TR7? I heard they could be adapted fairly easily to fit an MGB.
Anyhow, a rotary engine is not superior to a piston engine in all regards, or even most of them. True, it has amazing rpm and horsepower potential, especially for it's size and displacement, but show me a rotary that makes 260 ftlbs at 1950 rpm(this is from 2.2 liter btw).

Ack! Thanks for the thought, Cbass. But the last thing I need is more Lucas equipment on Layla. Lucas Fuel Injection is notorious for dumping raw fuel into the cylinders when the car ISN'T RUNNING. Not to say I haven't looked at other FI options. One in particular is actually a modifed version of the FI off of a late production run Jaguar XJ-S. They say it's good for 30hp and will cure carb problems like fouling plugs, but it would mean some wild electrical updates to my little car. I'm great at spinning spanners, but a soldering iron is not my best friend.

Well, if you can get a computer and coil pack, and then a crank trigger, you can have an EFI dizzyless car, and it doesn't get more reliable than that... Then you tell them non British car types to bugger off! :finger:

at least it has 4 valves per cylinder most american V8's haven't made that technological advance HAHAHAHAHAHAHa man i don't like it when people talk stupid shit about skylines just seeing one puts the wind up people and try and beat one of the line in a stock T/A it won't happen o and what the inline six is inferior because it has two less cylinders ? haha just cause it has six ? tell that to TVR whose Tuscan has a 420hp 4.2 liter inline six i don't think they care too much and that is on the same level of backwards technology as the V8's used in most Domestics lalalala Skyline has the best 6 cylinder in the world cuz its so versitile and easily modifiable so didums ahhhhhh poor you :finger:

Skyline Then 996.
do yall think the fact that we cannot even get skylines in this country has any correlation to why we all want one the most. Hence, you always want what you cant have. of course theres no way i can get a 996 either so i guess it works either way. |

grass is always greener on the other side
damn, do yall realize this thread was started in March? another 6 months and it'll be a year discussion. Oh, and that C3 vette has got to be the worst example of 3rd generation vette. :apuke: I've seen better 3rd gens than that on blocks.

C3
Actually i don't think the C3 looks that bad. I like the flames on the side and how it goes from black to purple to grey like that. I don't like the rims that are on it, but hey i would still take it.
