Re: Lexus LFA by Tamiya soon !!!
Still not a fan of the car's looks but the kit parts look good.
I like how the non-standard mesh at the back has been molded open.

Re: Lexus LFA by Tamiya soon !!!
Where is a rally car kit that is not 6 years old Tamiya?
They build this BS and wonder why people are not purchasing any of their models. 2005 edition of the Subaru WRC was the last rally car I have been able to buy, it's 2011 now. Total clowns operating that company. I am sure those who are GT fans probably think a bit the same, those who are F1 fans (recent times) are tired of waiting for something up to date. Rather we are given a over priced Toyota to build. FAIL (rant over) Cheers WRCfan |

As for the LFA: I would probably get one to put it alongside the Revell Ferrari 599, the car that got beaten by the LFA in Car and Driver's comparison test. |

Different strokes for different folks.
It's got engine detail and the like so that's promising. Quick build-up through Modulo's site: http://www.modulo.jp/lexus_lfa/lexus.htm |

Someone needs to make a 1/24 Paris Hilton figure for this kit.

Re: Lexus LFA by Tamiya soon !!!
I was referring to the news last week that Ms Hilton apparently got a LFA for her 30th birthday.

Re: Lexus LFA by Tamiya soon !!!
I got my order notice Hobby Search has them in stock now. Surprisingly a longer list of the usual Hobby Search parts pics are on as well. It looks like the rear wing can also be adjusted? Photo-etch and engine detail also appear to other highlights. It's probably only a matter of time till someone shoves the V10 in to a Supra, right?

Re: Lexus LFA by Tamiya soon !!!
I can foresee US and Chinese buyers won't be happy about the RHD-only setup, on this $85 kit
Step 27 magnets.

Re: Lexus LFA by Tamiya soon !!!
Quality is there, but Tamiya is becoming more and more clueless for putting that much of effort into a lackluster subject, and no LHD dashboard in a global car like LFA is really lame, too.
On the other hand, the high price is due to the weak dollar. 5000 yen is 1.7 times the cost of a music CD in Japan. Suppose a typical music CD in the US is $15, Japanese value of the kit is equivalent to $25.5. Assume you pay $10 for the middleman's margin, $35.5 should be a reasonable US retail price. So the exchange rate should be 140 Y/$, not 82 Y/$. There was a 9-hour (!) marathon broadcast of LFA build. I've been watching the recorded version segment by segment for the last few days. I'm not going to spoil you whether the builder finished it in time or not, but for those who're interested, here are the links to Part 1, 2 and 3. http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/12722724 http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/12725483 http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/12727491 |

Re: Lexus LFA by Tamiya soon !!!
Meh. I like the design of the kit, I won't mind throwing HLJ-scale money around for it, and I'd probably do the $90 US if I had to.
But that's just for us odd birds who are nearly as enthusiastic about model kits for their own sake as they are about cars. I do have to note that the same amount of scratch can get me a nice F111 from Hobby Boss, no cheapie itself even with all its sprues and detail. Nice to have a full drivetrain back, Tamiya-San - but many are gonna wish we didn't have to scrape close to 3 figures for it... |
