Question 84 GTI Oil pressure

I have an 84 GTI and the oil light started coming on while I was driving. It also started buzzing. If I let the engine drop below 2100 rpm the light goes out and the buzzer stops. I installed an oil gauge and the gauge shows good pressure all the time. I hooked it up at the oil filter sender. I changed the oil recently, and yes it is full. I put 10w/40 in it. Any ideas? I can drive it but it makes me nervous with the light going on.

Re: 84 GTI Oil pressure

There's another sensor at the end of the head, replace both (they are different but look alike so keep them separate). If that doesn't help you may have to disable the dynamic oil warnig system & just use a light hooked to the head sensor.

Can I replace the other sensor with the gauge? I really prefer a gauge. I disconnected the other sensor and it still goes off at 2100.

Re: 84 GTI Oil pressure

If you're going to put in a gauge then use the cylinder head port.
