Mirror Fell Out!
I have a 1991 Silverado and the mirror fell out of the housing on the driver side,it was glued in with a silicone glue, the "stealer" said I have to buy a whole new chrome housing for 65.00..any others fixes that I might do?
The mirror fell out while driving and broke all over so I don't have it anymore...would a glass company be able to put another one in? |

Re: Mirror Fell Out!
Im pretty sure I have seen something at the autoparts store that replaces your orginal mirror and not the houseing. Check out your local murays or autozone.

Re: Mirror Fell Out!
The Advance Auto where I'm at has just the glass. Use whatever glue you decide is best, then run a bead around the glass after the glue has dried. It's barely noticable, and will keep the elements off the glue.
I believe the glass replacements are for the older style trucks. They are VERY close to fitting the newer ones, but slight reshaping of the metal will probably be required, it was on my grandpa's 91.

I smashed my mirror backing out of my driveway, the mirror frame barely bumped the garage support pole. I stopped and decided well the mirror was out of adjustment anyway and will just get pushed back a little. It worked and it shattered the glass too.
AutoZone has replacement glass or at least they use to.

Re: Mirror Fell Out!
any good glass place should be able to cut you one. i got two of them cut and installed for like $20. different kind of mirror tho; not one that shows objects smaller than they actually are.

Re: Mirror Fell Out!
you can purchase just the glass part from any windshield repair shop with out having to cut glass or special tools.place silicone on back and apply to the housing.use tape to hold in place for several hours until dry. this is really easy.you can also order the mirror part from Rockauto.com
