Heater And Fan Comes On My Itself
The Heater and Fan will come on my itself , and you can not turn it off. the ATC unit has no light on it. I ran the ATC diagnostic after I turn the car off and it displayed a 36. Is this code telling me the the ATC unit is Bad??

Same thing has happened to my 98 Concorde. The fan settings/display on the dash now goes black after about 1 hour of driving, but then comes back on again the next time I start er up. When the display does this bad number, the controls still function -- one just has no visual verification. Any idea what be up?

How do you perform the ATC self-diagnostic on this unit to get the codes?

2. Press the floor, mix and defrost button at the same time. Hold them for a few seconds until the display starts to blink, I think you'll hear a beep also. They are the first, second and last buttons in the top row. 3. Wait for the thing to do its thing. ![]() I get a code 36 when I do it. It is an ATC head communication failure code. I have a spare, but as long as my ATC works for now I'll leave this one in. Good luck with it. If you want to see the codes go here http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=168327. I wrote in all of the codes. Have a good one!! Dan

Re: Heater And Fan Comes On My Itself
hey, dpetdog, what exactly is the ATC head?
i also get ATC head failure code (36), but not sure what it is... i noticed sometimes that i will have it set to blow out hot air (round 80) and it will blow out freezing cold air (after engine is hot enough...) |

Possible Fix
Hello everyone,
I joined this forum yesterday "Christmas day" because I was having intermitten problems with the climate control panel. It was displaying all the traits everyone has listed here and more. I was getting code 31 when I ran the diagnostic. I had my father look at it and he noticed that when the plug in the back (8 pin) was wiggled the problems listed here would recreate them selves. So I took it apart like I have done many times before. The only difference this time is that I took the small circut board out of the aluminum back casing and looked at the conection for the 8 pins on the back of the circut board. There were definately cracks in the solder for at least 5 of the 8 pins. I fired up the soldering iron and added some rosin core solder to each of the 8 connections reinforcing them quite a bit. This has resolved the apparent problems. However I have yet to run diagnostics on the panel again because it seems to be working just fine now. I hope this can help someone before they spend hundreds/thousands on another ATC. Michael |

Sorry about your LHS, I checked out the pics you had posted, glad everybody was unhurt. I had a 95 Concorde that got taken out by a Civic because some "nice lady" let the driver make a left and pull between a lane of stopped traffic on a 7 lane road (3 each direction and center left turn lane) and right into my path. I had no time to react when seeing the nose of the car come through because the next thing I saw a split second later was the airbag! ![]() |
