Blower Motor

Hello,

Can someone help me? My blower motor stays on when I turn my car on. The only way I can get it to stop is by removing the fuse, but this leaves me without any way of blowing heat/air in my car. Any advise would be appreciated.

Do you have anything on the display for the temp control unit?

Sometimes the display on mine will dissapear, and then the blower will come on at a present speed, sort of slow, and the temp will be quite hot. I didn't know what was going on so I started pressing buttons to no avail. Then I smacked the side of the dashboard, right next to it, and the display came back on and worked like it should. It did it again and smacking it didn't help, so I kept pressing buttons and it eventually came back on. This last time it did it it wouldn't come on at all, and it was cold. I went to the grocery store, and when I came back out to go home it worked like nothing was wrong. Who knows?

If you can get to actually having the unit work right, try this, it's the ATC head diagnostic.

1. Make sure car is running, can't be moving though.
2. Make sure temperature is set at 75 degrees.
3. Press and hold the floor, mix and defrost buttons at the same time. They are all in the top row, the first, second and last button. When done the display will blink.

If there are any error codes they will be displayed where the temperature normally is. Press the panel button to see if there is more than one code.

Here is the codes and descriptions. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to fix these stupid things.

Code Description
23 ATC Blend Door Feedback Failure
24 ATC Mode Door Feedback Failure
25 Ambient Sensor
26 ATC In-Car Sensor
27 Sun Sensor Failure
31 ATC Recirculation Door Stall Failure
32 ATC Blend Door Stall Failure
33 ATC Mode Door Stall Failure
34 Engine Temperature Message not Received
35 Evaporator Sensor Failure
36 ATC Head Communication Failure

When I do this to my car, I get a code 36. But I don't have a manual that I can use to actually try and fix this. I figure if it gets bad enough, it's in the ATC head itself, and I have a spare on hand that I can put in. Most of the time the stupid thing works though, so I don't worry about it. If it stopped, like yours are doing, I would be confused.

Good Luck!!

Dan

I have the same problem....the blower motor stays on high and the control knob the the fan makes no differents and when the head unit is shut off...the blower stays on high. I cleaned the tiny motor sensor behind the chrysler trim plate above the glove box. It gets full of lint. As, I was getting a code 34 but this still has not cleared up the problem. I even try replacing the atc resistor under the glove box on the firewall and this didn't do the trick either. Other, then the head unit being bad...I can't think of anything else. But, everything else works on the head unit and there seems to be no oter problem with it. Stumped!!!

I have this problem as well with Intrepid 1995.
Sometimes the blower starts by itself and the cabin gets really hot. It's impossible to turn it off. A new ATC costs $1000..!
When the ATC works ok, I run the diagnostic test and get error code 36.

I got mine fixed at a local garage. I think it was the switch on the blower. I can't find my recipt, but i will call my guy and see if he remembers the specifics.
No problems since!!! I think it cost me $200.

Re: Blower Motor

Only solution I found was to replace the ATC unit and yes they are EXPENSIVE! My dealer wanted $400 for one, I lucked out and found a replacement at a salvage yard for $60 and snatched that sucker right up with a big smile!

I just fixed this problem yesterday, 99 concorde lxi, blower stays on high. the problem here was the resistor on the bottom of the blower box.if you look directly uner the center of the glove compartment, close to the firewall you will see two wires that feed it(one is a 2 wire other is a 3 wire I think) two 8mm screws hold it in. it a solid piece about 2" by 4" dealer cost is about $100. got this one at a junk yard for $25. works perfect know hope this helps.

Fixed

The resistor was not the problem in my case.

I started with changing the resistor but the problem turned out to be the climate temprature control (ATC)

I found this exelent service on ebay.
CHRYSLER DIGITAL CLIMATE CONTROL "EXCHANGE SERVICE"

I recomend it fast shiping and great service.

Re: Blower Motor

I think I also have a related problem on my '95 LHS. Sometimes when I start, the blower is running but no display and no control. It's not very comfortable on the hot days. The only way to find relief is to pull the blower fuse in the panel next to the drivers side door.
Those who referred to the ATC head, what does it look like and where is it? I pulled the center dash cover trim off and removed the temp control box. Unplugged the green & white connectors but no affect. Reinstalled those. Then I pulled the black plastict device (looks like a sealed relay of some sort). Still no affect. I reinstalled all connections and reinstalled everything else.
One final note, if it doesn't work when I begin my commute, it usually magically starts working correctly after about 15 miles or minutes. Does anyone have a clue what the culprit is?
This little annoyance is persuading me to get rid of this car.

Re: Blower Motor

The ATC Head is the climate control panel located directly below the radio, the very same item you pulled that had the white and green connectors.
