raced a S14 SR20DET powered S14.

i just got back from the 240 meetings. there is this guy that i know. he also has a 95 nissan S14. but he has a SR20DET inside, and its black instead of white like mine. he has the better then average SR. he has the 95 motor which has a bigger turbo ( a T28 vs. a T25) along with variable valve timing. he also has a full 3 inch exhuast along with a performance turbo manifold, and a intake. hes running stock boost. but from those mods he should be running 9-10psi. anyhow he always wanted to feel how a KA-T compares to a SR. so he gave me for a spin in his car. and damn it is faster then i thought it would be. then he drove my car. its was hard to compare the two cars because our power delievery was soo different. my car from 0-60 is not all that explosive. but once i hit 3rd and up my car jumps. but we both honestly thought that the SR felt faster up high. anyways time to put our theorys to the test. we both line up and the objective of the race is, who ever can hit fuel cut (120mph) first wins. we both line up and we both did a good launch. he edged me out by like half a car and we stay even till 60. then we hit high gear and i started walking him, then 4th same thing, and finally we hit 5th. i hit 120mph around .5 seconds before he did. but i only barely a car ahead. i must've only beaten him by half a car. it was a very very interesting race. but what i predicted was kinda true. he would take me to 60. which he did. and then i would take him on the highend, which i did. anyhow it was pretty cool. then on the way back, we both were screwin around on the main road, and we both were in 2nd. we both went for it just until we hit 3rd. my laggy turbo hit hard, and as soon as it hit. i caught up and past him by a car on the top of 2nd. so this is for you magazine guys. KA is a truck motor huh? you guys should really consider these results.

yeah but think about how cool that was. we both have the same car, but his is black, and mine is white. his is SR powered, mine is KA powered. then we had this red non turbo S14 chaser car that got left in the dust by like 10 cars. lolz

Sounds too tight to call which one would be the faster. I'd say on a different day, he might have beaten you by half a car. You should repeat the test another time, and try it driving each others cars too, just to see what happens.

This story is clear BS.....you cannot beat a sr20 motor....it was briefly mentioned in the original F&F ergo only another car from that movie can beat it......you should know better that to post kill stories like that when me and redneck reside here.....you get caught easily:comprage1

good kill TAT, shit I need to change my name screw this SR shit lol. I've always been a firm believer that the KA delivers more for less...... I bet you spent less money on your turbo setup then he did TAT and you still had the win.....not by much but you did make a statement you know.

well if i had gotten him off the line then it would've been different. it wasn't just one race. we messed around on the open road too and whenever we got next to each other from a roll, i would get ahead pretty fast. it was from a standstill that he stood a better chance cause he got me off the line and my 0-60 isn't all that great. but if he had a ordinary S13 SR in there then i definitly would've beaten him worse. and thanks for the comment guys. dont' worry, next 240 meet when there are more SR's there i'll race them too. last night was weird, only frank was out, and he was the only SR. so next time i'll race more. lolz

your next purchase for the car should be a VLSD or a Kaaz unit....

that 900 dollars man i think i'll get a new clutch when this one goes, and then i'll upgrade my suspension.

a stock 240sx isn't that bad though.... there are many a worse car.

don't even talk about stock suspension. it is totally stock and last night my friend who knows how to drift was driving my car hard. since hes the best driver that i know, even when hes just casually driving my car, i felt the cars weakness. its handling prowess!! of course for me it handled fine. but i never pushed my car that hard. so i never knew how bad it acted when provoked. he couldn't even really really try to drive my car hard. now i want to get some strut tower braces, some larger sway bars, and a nice shock and spring combo.

When I get my 240 I'm going to get an SR (or turbo ka depending on my budget) then LSD.

Winter sucks when only one wheel spins especially if the only spinning wheel doesn't have a lot of weight under it.

I was thinking the SR would have been a bit farther ahead. I wonder which one is more durable when modified.

the KA has a more stronger crank shaft. both motors have forged connecting rods, and forged crank, and oil squirters. the only difference is that the SR comes with low compression pistons. so that makes it more boost friendly right off the bat. the KA all you need to do is to drop in a set of low compression pistons, a new headgasket, and just rehone the block and it would be just as strong as the SR.

the KA motor is pretty tight ... there is a guy in the 4th gen civic forum who ran a high 13 with his 91 240sx on spray ... the reason he didnt post it in the 240 forum is cause he used to own a few 4th gens if anyone is wondering.
