lucky bastard. Are they gunna fit? Or are you gunna have to do some custom work to 'em?

deffinitly gonna take some custom work to make em fit. weld and drill for the front, relocate the mount points on the rear bottom cushion, and cut away about 6" and the rear back rest just to get it to fit, then i need to worry about getting it mounted in and hinged nd all that hahah.

Wow, going throught this topic and seeing the work on these cars is amazing, inspiring, and unique. So I think i am gonna try this i just wanted to ask, if you guys had any tips i should know about before starting.

make sure you use fiberglass cloth, not the mat. i can't stress that enough.

just take your time, think things through, make sure you know what you want it to look like. draw up designs cuz once you start its gonna be hard to switch between designs.

Luke, good job getting those done so quickly. I haven't made it in the the upholstery shop yet this week, though it should take much more than a week for me to finsh up once I get in there.

if you get a square piece of foam, to put it on the car, u gotta shape it like the car right? can you sand the spray foam that people use to insulate parts of houses?

yes you can sand the spray foam. you can't get super crazy with it. using a metal file works well. and its easier to just cut with a knife as best you can .. i did it when making my rear lip.

here's pictures of my rear lip i fabricated from scratch but threw out because its way to heavy(used mat instead of cloth)
and there are also pictures of my mugen front lip replica i made(i made a fg replica of the mugen lip i bought. its 3 layers of cloth. very light and very durable)

Look at my cardomain for my pics... i havent got to work on i in about a month...so its still sitting in atrailer waitin for me...i ghave yet to even start the rear or skirts. I used some spray foam after rough shaped blocks, considering, that the blocks of foam ar hard to get the exact curves of the car.

lkailburn im not sure about this but a friend of mine was sayin that theres a type of putty that you can use thats kind of like clay. He said that if i used it on the foam i could get the details better, thus less sanding later...have you ever heard of this stuff?

you mean like bondo? bondo is a two part clay kinda textured material. but be careful how much bondo you use. the more you use, the more likely you will get a crack later on.

be sure to keep weight in mind. hold your stock bumper in your hands so you can get an idea of how heavy your finished peice can be

no, its not bondo...that would work. But its to put on the foam to smooth it out better. He was saying its like a white colored plumbers putty or somethin i wasnt sure.

edit: nm got the pics to work. rock on man ur kit is awesome for diy. its incredible. style wise i really like the skirts, like the front, not feelin the rear but quality wise everything is precise. i remember seeing ur pic of ur fg cloth z3 inserts u made and damn look at it now.

hmm dont know how many hour it took ...maybe if i would have worked 24/7 on the car ...maybe half of a year......or less it took me 2 years because dident have the right tools and was short of funds for some time but it finisht now ......ou and happy new year from Estonia...its 12:00 :D and the new year is here

Im probbably gonna make a fiberglass kit for my 3rd gen civic, though. I found a chunk of foam at the beach and carried it home. What tools did you use for cutting the foam? A wire-foam cutter or just a knife or mini saw? and For the spots where there were air pockets, did you just 'open' them up and fill them with resin or glazing and spot putty?

jep....u can use the tools acutaly u can use any tool that cuts foam. and a nother good thing is sandpaper size 40-60 . I used it and at some time it was better then the saw and knifes.
