1995 Chevy misses on acceleration???

I've got a 1995 Chevy 1/2 ton 2wd 350 5 speed that seems to miss on acceleration. Today I installed new plugs, wires, cap, and rotor and it still seems to have issues. On a drive today it was missing and carrying on and then the check engine light came on. It started running better, no miss, I could lug it down in 5th gear to about 1200 rpms and it would pull out of it. The light went off and it started missing again. This happened about 3 or 4 times. Any ideas other than putting on a carb ? Thanks, Greg

well if you replaced the plugs, wires, cap and rotor, you have a few more easier things to check before getting into the more expensive stuff. I would check fuel system first, the timing and distributor second, then lastly I'd check compression. If you have a decoder, next time the engine light comes on, find out what code it is throwing, and then go from there. I'd check the simple things first, it could be as simple as the timing or a partially blocked fuel line. hope this helps

Re: 1995 Chevy misses on acceleration???

Is it a rythemic miss like a single cylinder, or more of like a stumble all over the place.

I would suspect the EGR valve could be causing issues since it only operates above idle.
