Any Differences/Opinions on the New Ferrari 250 GTO's vs the Italeri Kit?

Howdy from Texas:

I've got the old Italeri Ferrari 250 GTO and am wondering what significant differences/mistakes/opinions are there about this kit and the newer Fujimi and Revell Germany kits.

Thanks for you help.

The Italeri is pretty well-liked as an old kit. Italianhorses.net:

thinks that the Italeri is the next best after the Gunze kit, but the catalogue predates the new Fujimi kits. The Revell is the old Protar kit, and is not as good. The word on the new Fujimi kits is excellent, though - they're even said to be better than the $200 Model Factory Hiro kits, especially if you can get the boxings with the etched parts:

bestest,

The Italeri was the best looking of them all, before Fujimi's new kit.

Revell's is the reissued Protar. The new Fujimi kit is much better; shape and detail are superior, though the Protar may have more engine detail, and the Protar has remarkably nice injection molded wire wheels. To me the Revell/Protar kit is good for parts, as the body shape is off.

If one has no GTO and wants to buy one, the Fujimi kit is the one to buy.

The Gunze kit has problems...undersized wheels, terrible tires (too narrow, no tread detail), oddly-shaped rear wheel opening.

The Italeri kit is pretty good, though the tires look a bit too much like mud/snow vs. vintage performance rubber. It will build into a very nice model.

Thanks ZoomZoom for you help.

Yeah, the Gunze body seemed too aggressively shaped and the rear wheel arch was not something I saw on any of the photos I've seen on the real cars, but owing to the varied racing and ownership of these cars I wasn't sure if it was innacurate.

When Revell Germany announced the GTO kit, we had a thread speculating which mold it would be. I posted some comparison photos between Italeri, Protar and Gunze.

Thanks hiro for the side-by-side comparison.
