02 sensor question (1 wire to 4)

I am trying to swap a 4 wire o2 sensor (USDM) onto my 1 wire (JDM) harness setup. Anyone know if one of those four wires will tie into the one o2 wire I have and still allow my o2 sensor to function? (There are two black ones, a green one, and a white one; mine is a single black wire). Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

4th gen hatches came with one wire O2 sensors. the 4-wire is either OBD-1 (92-95) or OBD-2 (96+) I think. I think you need to get a 88-91 (non-OBD) sensor that should be the correct one?

Then again, I see you are in Calil, everything over there is always different

By the way - Welcome to the board

i'm running non obd and i'm using a 4 wire o2...very easy to install and will make your car run smoother. Same principle on the diagram except you only have one sensor so just run your current sensor lead wire and follow the rest of the instructions. let me know if you need additional help

thanks

Thanks for the responses guys. Sastanley thanks for the reply and the welcome to the board. EF_LSVtec thanks for that helpful diagram. I was just trying to make it look like I was running the 4 wire O2 for smog referee purposes while still using my O2, which I now know how to do (connect my single black wire to the white one) , but since you said it'll make my car run smoother I'll probably give that entire setup a try. By the way, how's that LSVtec treatin you? Any 1/4 times or hp dynos? Just curious because that's a pretty controversial swap where I'm from. Also, what head are you using and what've you done to your internals, etc. if you don't mind telling me. A buddy of mine would also like to know as he is planing on building the same motor. Thanks again for the help.

Not only will your car run smoother, you'll have better gas mileage. About my motor, I'm using a 91 LS block and a 94 GSR head. Pretty much oem internals (us type R) except for the CTR cams and the usual port and polish, blueprint...the thing that actually made it all come together performance wise is my stage 2 Hondata...Even Erick Aguilar himself (fastest all motor Honda to date) uses Hondata to run his GSR motor.

Thanks for the dyno 88civ, and thanks for your reply EF_LS. Any 1/4 times out of curiosity? Also, I was wondering what a good switched 12 volt power source would be to tie the black wire into and does it matter which is ground and which is power with the black ones? (I've heard it does). Thanks in advance for your reply.
