Quick O2 sensor and wiring question

Hi, 94 S-10 4x4 with Z vin if that matters any. Was told O2 gone by mechanic. Wire got burned up on something warm...lol. Anyway picked up the sensor but when I got under there I see the toasted wires are after the pigtail thing on the sensor. So now what ? This maybe a dumb question but is it ok and will things be working fine if I say throw a roll of electerical tape at the problem if you know what I mean..lol ? Or am I going to have to replace this section of the wiring. Which would be from connection at the sensor all the way to the next connection on those wires I guess. Could be half mile of wiring for all I know from under the truck I lose sight of them couple inches after spot they got toasted. Advice please...

Kinda depends how bad they are burnt.
If wire damage splice in some good wire and solder connects and heat shrink them and get some sealer to seal up solder joints.
Several co's make a spray on sealer.
Zep makes a good one called Zep Restore a good sealer for wiring and terminals.
Remember there is water splashing under there in wet weather.
So seal them wires up.
