Radio Code From SafE to 1000 and Back

I have the code but can't figure out how to get out of safe mode. I've seen comments about hitting mode and scan at the same time but I didn't see a "mode" button. It is a 92 Jetta with a factory tape deck/AM/FM.

fixed it myself

Just in case anyone is interested. I fixed it myself using time and kaos.

This is what I did.

1) Turn on Radio
2) Press REP followed by SCAN (Hold for about 5 seconds until 1000 appears)
3) Entered the code
4) Repeat step 2 to store the code and return to normal

Re: Radio Code From SafE to 1000 and Back

i have a 94 jetta III gls, over the summer i tried to install a sony cd player b/c the tape deck that was in there when i bought the car used did not work. anyway, somehow we messed up the wiring and cd player would only work when the headlights of the car were on. i have gotten used to this, but today i got tired of it and asked a friend who seems to be pretty knowledgable to come look at it. we took it all apart and now when wired up the same was it was yesterday or this morning for that fact, it will not work. the cd player will eject a cd and suck it in, but the lights on the front of the cd player do not work and no music is emitted. any help would be appreciated.

Where did you tap in for the power. You can tap a few places for a switched power wire. The fuse box is a no brainer.

If the power is on, and no music comes out, check the wiring to the speakers.
