I want to build a car for next year Tamiya/con.

After attending the Tamiya convention, I am really motivated to do a car to enter next year. Here are the 3 cars I'm trying to decide on...

1.Rotary Miata: Tamiya Miata with RX-7 R1 engine, wired as if it were actually installed in there, not just a rotary siting in a miata enigne bay, get what I'm saying?

2.Blackbird Skyline: Hard-core skyline fans know this car very well, it was owned by the guy who runs Motorex (America's skyline dealer), then it was sold off to Craig Lieberman who owned the orange supra from F&F. I want to do it as the blackbird, BEFRE it was sold to Craig Lieberman. Before it was sold, it was black and really nice I wan't to use the V-specII kit and an R32 engine, fully wired :smoka:

3.Veilside S2000: Tamiya kit wih FOTW's S2000 body kit, that's about it.

Now here's the problem, some of you might say "why don't you do all of them?" I would, but I'm gonna try to build this car as perfect as possible and for that I need skill, to accuire skill, means I have to build some other kits... kits I have at home. Then when I finsih developing my skill more than it is now, and I'm confident enough, I'm gonna go forth and build one of these just in time for the show.

I'm dead serious about building one of these and winning at least one category in the show, I'm really motivated!

Rotary Miata. I was just telling friend I wanted to do one myself...

Why not a 3-rotor?

That would be a 4-rotor, but you could lop one off. But, I personally couldn't do that to a 787B. :o

Just add a pair of intake pipes across the top and another pair of plug wires...

Or not.

I'll use the 2 rotor instead, it's more of a common swap anyway. I could'nt do that to the 787 either, I like that car alot.

Rafael, do the rotary Miata or the S2000 with Chris' kit. I'm sure you'll do fine in a year's time. We're all here to help when in need of tips and advice. Good luck.

Yeah, I'm leaning toward the miata more because it's a cool swap. I probably won't do the S2000... no engine . Engine is a must for me . I'm thinking more miata, but the skyline will look better to the eye because.. well, it's a Skyline! Can't decide

Thanks Walter, I appreciate your help, I appreciate everyone helping in general , thanks guys

If you are willing to fork out the extra cash, I am pretty sure that there is an S2000 engine available, only its expensive. I believe there was a thread about it a while back.

Yeah, I know about that $40 S2000 enigne but heres the thing... I can have the enigne in there but what about all the things around it? Brake booster, radiator... etc.

Most of those things can be scratch built or kit bashed. Of course it is you choice, I think all of the cars would look good.

Yeah, you're right. I can get them from other kits. That would be cool though, Mr. Tamiya would be suprised to see an engine in one of his curb-side kits, although he would feel regret...

The S2000 sounds a bit too simple, a rotary in a miata is more radical-like than an S2000 engine in an S2000 engine, same thing for the skyline but that's different

I'm kinda leaning towards the Miata, agian. Not sure, I have a while to decide though.

I would'nt mind spending money on the S2000 enigne though, I'm not really a budget modeler . If it's gonna make the model much better, it's worth the modey! (fro me at least)

Thanks Jonno
