Hey all, this Friday I'm taking the crx up to the track with some friends and some other ppl i hang out with (rn't my friends tho). I got my del sol buddy, another guy with a lexus sc 300, a crapilier, and maybe some other pos's, havent figured it out yet. Anyways, i dont wanna look like a dumbass when i go up there, so i need to kind get some pointers about take off and everything, basically just how to get something in the 17's, preferrably 16's, but that might be pushing it. I've only street raced like twice, and I sucked ass both times, so if anything whose been to the track or just street races a lot has any helpful hints, plz lemme know. Thanx
PS All i have on my car is Thermal Exhaust, AEM CAI, Random High-Flo Cat, and Skunk2 short shift. PPS Would I be better off puttin my stock rims on my front b4 i go, or should i leave all my 17's on?

i wouldn't go on the 17's. make sure you got some good tires though on your stocks, your car doesnt have too much torque so it shouldn't make too much of a difference. only thing i can suggest is go to an open road and practice. one pointer on your takeoffs make sure when you get your revs to the point where you want to launch from, dont have your clutch in all the way. practice having up to the point where your car is almost rolling forward. you dont want to roll though thats why you want to practice to find that perfect release. and when light hits green, release the clutch and slam on that gas pedal. that reduces the tire spin most people have when they launch. they have the clutch in all the way and then just release it with the gas pedal slammed and makes you lose time with your tires just spinning. anyways not too much but a little. good luck.let us know the results

Yo...one thing to learn that is tough with the track is...Go on the last orange...if you wait for green, you're late.
If you are just doing a test & tune, it isn't really a big deal...but if you are really racing (and why not practice your launches too) you might as well learn the lights on the tree. Definitely go with smaller tires...the 17's prolly have more rotational mass, and take more HP to spin at the same speed as a comparable smaller wheel....MUCH better off with the 14's. Where ya goin' to the track? MIR is about the closest to me, but there is a big-ass Bay in the way for you - lol

*Bump*
But not just a bump, its something more.....something spectacular!!! Well, not really. Actually i was just wondering wat i should shift at, I'm not sure if i should just shift at 6500 (redline) or should i dip into the redline a little and shift at like 7k? Also, if I added some octane booster could this help at all? the stuff is very cheap, basically nothing , so if will it help at all, or should i just not even worry about it?

i suggest goin hard in the rear, (prolly 5) and softer in the front (maybe 1 or 2) this should eliminate "squat" quite a bit and give u better launches

deflate a bunch of air out of your front tires. That'll give them more surface area and grab better on takeoff. Good luck
