What are you shaving? Are you trying to take ou thte center tail lights? Remove the H logo? All you need to do is either weld the smaller holes shut (for the H Logo) or weld a metal plate in the place you want shaved and then sand out the welds and paint it...

Well, you would shave that the same way that you shaved the inner taillights. Take off the plastic license plate recess, properly weld a piece of metal over it, sand it smooth. rust proof it, prime, and paint. Thats the basics anyway. I don't know how it is on the trunk, but I know with door handles, you need to keep the weld cool, by using a special welder, I forget the name, of it can wrap the door. You can also try to blow cold compressed air over the tack welds every time you do a tack weld. That, in theory at least, should keep it cool. I hope this helps some.
