2000 GTP -Help with supercharger

I have a 2000 gtp with 104k miles and the supercharger is starting to whine. The pulley on the supercharger is loose and moves an inch or so when I put pressure on the belt. I know the cone can be replaced, but at this age should I replace the supercharger with a rebuilt one? Any suggestions on who to do the work. Going to the dealer with the part you want to replace, sometimes they will not do the work. And yes, the supercharger is factory original.

Re: 2000 GTP -Help with supercharger

There are aftermarket companies that offer snout rebuild kits for GM superchargers. GM dealers still want to sell you a complete supercharger for $3k, instead of replacing the common problem parts (snout bearings and coupler). I'm sure Bnaylor, TBlake or another forum member with a GTP will chime in with who to go with. I'm not sure because I only have a GT, so my GP doesn't have a supercharger.

Re: 2000 GTP -Help with supercharger

www.zzperformance.com sells cone rebuild kits for I THINK $80(do it yourself), REBUILT cones for around $100 I THINK and full rebuilt supercharges, but i dont know the price( but its deffinately cheaper than $3000, and im pretty sure its around $600). one of those guys listed above recommended that i get my rebuild kit or rebuilt cone from that site, although i never followed through...i do know that that is a reliable website..good luck with whatever you choose

Re: 2000 GTP -Help with supercharger

I've never had one apart. Mine has been OK and the rotor coating is still on it (or it was when I did my LIM gaskets).

There are articles floating around on how to rebuild the M90. An inch of play on the SC pulley is pretty excessive. Is it an inch in and out, or an inche side to side?

Re: 2000 GTP -Help with supercharger

as suggested, just buy the snout and replace it. Its not too hard to do

https://www.zzperformance.com/grand_...=159&catid=106

the snout is $125 on ZZP. Change the supercharger oil while your in there too. Here's a link to show ya how

Talking Re: 2000 GTP -Help with supercharger

Thanks for everyones comments. I found a performance shop that will evaluate my supercharger and would install any parts that I buy online. By the way the play in the pulley is left to right. From what I have been reading that points to replacing the coupler and I'll most likely also replace the snout since it will already be off and is not that expensive.
