P0410 Secondary Air Pump Malfunction

I know this topic has been dealt with in the past but I'm do for inspection again and last year the mechanic tried fixing the problem, but could not, so I got a waiver after being charged 500 dollars. I don't want to pay for this again. And from the research I've done, this problem is difficult to get rid off. I want to get the code deleted from my ECM. Does anyone know of any companies that will do this or of any other ways around this?

Re: P0410 Secondary Air Pump Malfunction

Drive it to MN, I'll delete the code out of your PCM for free!!!!

Seems I remember the 3800 GP's having issues with air pump duct work being mounted too low causing water to get in. Which really isn't a major deal untill it freezes and ruins the pump.

Bob or Rich may be able to give you more info. I do not have an air pump on mine, so I lucked out!!!

Re: P0410 Secondary Air Pump Malfunction

How many miles on this GP and do you still have the original CAT converter?

I recall some P0410 issues were caused by the CAT converter or were 02 sensor problems if the air injection pump and control valve were replaced but did not fix the issue.

Re: P0410 Secondary Air Pump Malfunction

There's about 74000 miles on it, and the cat was changed about 2 years ago as part of a recall.

Re: P0410 Secondary Air Pump Malfunction

Any other details or history you can give us. Was the air injector pump and control valve looked at or replaced? Front 02 sensor?

The air pump is not flowing the right amount of air into the exhaust so P0410 will set. There are two tests run. See below.

Quote:
Non-Intrusive Test
Test is run at engine start up before
closed loop is achieved.
Note: The non-intrusive test is cal’d out
on this application
The oxygen sensor voltage is above
598.96 mvolts for a rich time ratio of 1
to fail non-ntrusive test part 1 (must be
below 0 mvolts for a lean time ratio of 1
to pass)
The oxygen sensor voltage is below
598.96 millivolts for a minimum of 5
seconds after the pump is turned off to
fail non-intrusive test part 2 (must be
above 598 mvolts for 25 samples to
pass)

Intrusive Test
The Air Pump will be turned on to force
a change in the Oxygen Sensor signal or
a change in a short term fuel integrator
value.
Short term integrator must shift > 0.07
OR
the Oxygen Sensor signal must be
forced continuously below 73.785mV for
> 1.5 seconds to pass.
If neither of the above occurs within 3
seconds, the diagnostic counts a failure.

Re: P0410 Secondary Air Pump Malfunction

Can you hear the pump run? If not check all the fuses.

It doesn't sound like it's turning on anymore but the fuse isn't blown. It was running for many months and i still had the code, so tht isn't the problem. I want to delete the code from the computer. How can I delete it?

Re: P0410 Secondary Air Pump Malfunction

You'll have to find someone local that can delete it or send the PCM to someone that can delete it. A dealer might do it for you if its not required in your state.
