4Runner lift kit?
Hello. I'm new here and relatively new at working with cars. I recently purchased a 2002 4WD Toyota 4Runner. I love the car. I'm a big off-roader and saw this as a new toy for off-roading. I was looking into lifts and came about a few questions. First off, what else will I need to replace for the lift to work properly for a long period of time? Second, if i get a 4" lift (I haven't decided which size yet) where can I get the best deal? Third, what size tires can I fit with both 2" and a 4"? Any comments or help are much appreciated. Keep in mind I'm new to all this.
Thanks, Ty. |

Re: 4Runner lift kit?
If I remember correctly, you should keep your lift to 3" or less to prevent premature failure of the front axles.

Re: 4Runner lift kit?
Will it wear out eventually? As in what sort of time line are we looking at?

Re: 4Runner lift kit?
The increase operating angle of the CV joints caused by the lift can cause them to wear out sooner than they normally might. There is no way to predict when.
Lift kit manufacturers usually state the size tire their kit allows you to run. A 4" kit typically makes room for 33's or so.

Re: 4Runner lift kit?
Okay, thanks a lot. I'll keep that in mind as I proceed. Anymore suggestions or comments are welcome.
