yep, I thought it was a good deal. I also knew retail was $495. A friend told me a yellow one went for around $700 on ebay once. I think the high bidder was trying to collect all 5 colors and that was the last one.
Yes, it was new in box, but the box had slight shelf wear. I don't like silver, so if I got a 2nd one it would definitely be yellow.

I had a chance to buy a blue 1/12 McLaren while I was in Brasil during Christmas. The price was only $200. I couldn't convince my wife what a good buy that would be.

I'm kicking myself now seeing what they are selling for on eBay.

I saw the model in a shop in Vitoria in the state Espirito Santo. The store was in the parking garage under a Supermarket in the center of Vitoria. They had a lot of diecast there, but most of it was very expensive. As I was leaving I saw the 1/12 McLaren in the display window for $700 R (around $200 US).

I did pickup some diecast while in Brasil. I got 3 1/18 UT McLarens and 1 Silver UT Porsche GT2 for a very good price. Currently I'm not selling any of my collection. But, I will let you know if I change my mind.
