Mercedes SLR Full carbon fibre body

Here is my next project Tamiya 1/24 SLR with Scale Motorsport full monty carbon set and Scale Motorsport photo-etched set.

Fender on left is out of the box and th right is drilled for Photo-etched.

Here is a shot of the engine bay with a couple photo-etched pieces. I wish the engine was full detail not molded in.

Its a bitch to paint, though, with everything molded in.

Re: Mercedes SLR Full carbon fibre body

I think another cool idea would be like the new Mercedes F1 car. Silver w/ carbon showing underneath like the silver paint was scraped or ripped away.

Re: Mercedes SLR Full carbon fibre body

The fitment is pretty good so far. Only problems are the roof is to pieces and they give you two left sides, but they give you enough to cut a right. And the rear bumper needs to be designed a little different. The license plate are and bumper are one piece. They should be seperated.

Re: Mercedes SLR Full carbon fibre body

Your build reminds me of my old full CF SLR build that hasn't been touched for more than a year now http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=759767 Good luck on this one! Everything looks great.

Here are the parts that the Scale Motorsport Full Monty kit covers. Now i have to trim and pop the air bubbles.

Re: Mercedes SLR Full carbon fibre body

Very nice job on the chassis, but to be honest, carbon on rims feels a little strange for me...
