Question Silly Question....

I have finally gotten around to converting a '99 Impreza WRC to a 2000 Impreza WRC Portugal Rally. Slight problem...I had the studio 27 kit sitting around for a while now and the pics on the decal instructions show the car with the usual 15 spoke rims. After looking online earlier today, I found pics of the real car and it's got gravel tires and different rims on it.

Now the silly question...I was wondering if anyone out there has the Impreza Safari car wheels just sitting around...spare set, on the car that might be in the parts/trash bin, etc...that thay might be willing to part with? I know where to get the whole kit, but I only need the wheels and tires (well and possible the suspension parts too), and I don't really want to buy the whole kit just for the wheels. I would just order them from Tamiya, but the last time I did that it cost me almost $20

Of course if no one has any, the trans kit does come with decals for Catyluna (sp?) rally which uses the 15 spoke tarmac wheels, but they look odd. In the pics of that car, the wheels appear to be Gunmetal Grey instead of Gold. hmmmm

For several rallies in 2000 Subaru used silver rims, Calatunya was one of those. I think the silver looks cool.

If you go the Portugal option you will need to raise the ride height a bit. I've got some suitable wheels you're welcome to. They are a bit scummy, a result of my early experiments into the compatability of Tamiya and Testors paints. With a bit of cleaning up they'll be fine. PM me if you're interested.

The Safari Impreza suspension would lift the car too much.
You would be better getting the suspension off the 2001 Great Britain kit if you just wanted to swap out like that and modify slightly, but the correct way would really be to just add a 1.5mm spacer to the struts to add the height.....

True. Wasn't entirely sure if the suspension on the Safari car would be too tall or not.

Suspension wasn't too high in Portugal. Might be best to jack up the tarmac spec. Witness this shot of Kankkunen's car in 2000.
Note the silver (light gun metal if you prefer ) wheels.

If you need any guidance in playing around with suspension height, just ask.
