Question VR-4 Engine??

i dunno lots bout the VR-4 engine but, i heard it was not really reliable, but then again i heard it was reliable??? So im talkin bout the VR-4 twin turbo engine, are they reliable, i kno they are quick, but r they realiable over ??,000 miles??

ask yogs vr4. but from what i have heard they are reliable as long as you poor lotsa money blood sweaqt and tears into them.... they seem to be money pits. ask yogs vr4 though he really knows. you know why? HE HAS 2

Hey - that would be me

They are like most engines. You treat them right and they'll treat you right. Combined I have almost 200K miles on my engines and have never had any issues at all. I keep up with the scheduled maintenance and dont abuse the engines (no cold 5K launches etc.) I know of VR4s that have gone close to the quarter million mile range without engine problems.

The issue I hear most is that darn lifter tick that develops as the engine gets older. It can be eliminated (mostly) with resinol oil additive but some have gone so far as to replace their lifters.

my 3000gt has about 100000 it has a slight tic under the hood i heard thet it was quite common what is the price of new lifters, is it ever worth it.

Use some redline in there on your next oil change and it'll clear up a lot of those "ticks"
