Chevrolet Corvette AeroVette

Hello folks,

last year I mostly modded DieCasts due to time restrictions and a customer project - but this time it's plastic. The kit has been lying in the closet almost nine years now. Time to dig it out and work on it.

Original pictures:

The original rear end of the AeroVette doesn't take my fancy, so...

... I decided to make my own version.

Same goes for the front end:

(noch nicht ganz fertig)

The Interior doesn't have any instruments originally... and mine lost the 2nd seat somewhere in the progress.

The engine has been replaced with a newer one from a C5 Corvette:

mock-up:

BTW: there must have been a 1/64 version somewhere...

Allright, waiting for comments and criticism

Cheers

I like the updates you're making to it. This is a car I've never seen or heard of before, but it looks really neat.

Re: Chevrolet Corvette AeroVette

I was contemplating the exact same changes on mine. I mean, quite literally, I had my aerovette on the table last night, some wheels out of a 1/20 scale '74 'Vette with some low pros from pegasus, had a very similar wing on the back and the front was going to receive a very similar treatment. I must say though that the smoothed out side windows is a very nice touch.

as for the engine though, I had one out of a firebird, but it's still an LS1

Re: Chevrolet Corvette AeroVette

Allright, here's a quick update on the AeroVette.

Painted the engine compartment and adjacent area flat black and added heat shields (kindly sponsored by a smoking colleague). Wheels are so far lined up, but nothing is glued on yet.

Re: Chevrolet Corvette AeroVette

Looking good, nice detailing so far!
What do you plan to do with the "hood" scoop? At first I though it'd be the intake for the engine...but since the engine is on the rear...I wonder what will you do to it?

Keep us posted on this beauty!

Re: Chevrolet Corvette AeroVette

Make a little remote control bird fly out of it!!! YEAH!!! lol haha

I just noticed something too. This is the AERO Vette but now it has a huge drag producing spoiler on the back....I just found that humorous.

It's looking great so far, bro. I can't wait to see it all done. The interior looks fantastic.

Re: Chevrolet Corvette AeroVette

Allright... got some work done on this build. The current status:

.. and cut! The roof is off, turning it from AeroVette into AeroVertible

The hardtop is just lying on the windows in the upper pics, fits snug like a glove.

naked engine

with covers

glass installed

and wheels

Hope you have some fun looking at this rather un-original AeroVertible.
Comments and critics welcome.
