I have a 99 Dodge Durango I bought used. It runs great, with one exception.
At times, I start it - it starts right up - then stalls the moment I let off the gas. It is not set to idle too low, and it only happens occasionally. When it does, it's frustrating. I have only gotten it to start by disconnecting the battery cable - waiting a few minutes - then reconnecting it. Any ideas on what is going on with my Durango? Tina |

Have you ever gotten any check engine lights? If you are having to remove the power current, that would worry me that you have a problem with the electical system or your ECU. I would take it to the dealership. They can hook up their computers to and find out what is wrong.

I get the same thing of my 99 Durango with a 5.9 engine about every 6 to 9 months. I have cleaned out the throttle body but it seems to recur without rhyme or reason. What if anything ever fixed yours. I was thinking of replacing the IAC (idle air controller) at the rear of the throttle body if the problem becomes more frequent. p.s. I have never had an associated check engine or other indication with this & it always starts after a few attempts. I reclean the throttle body to make myself feel better & it doesn't hurt. The last occurrence a couple of days ago was after I emptied a tank of gas treated with Lucas fuel cleaner. |
