Engine Starts,Stalls Immediatly

Let me quickly say, After reading many, many posts, You all sound very knowledgable :-)

My Equipment... 1998 F-150,Auto Trans, 4X4,Triton V8, 5.4 Litre,113K orig. miles.

Preliminary Work due to this problem:
Changed Fuel Filter, Cleaned Air Filter, Used injecter cleaner additives in the fuel. Taking it to get injectors cleaned this week.

At first, A few months ago, My truck would start, But go dead(or stall I think you mechanics call it :-) , However,It will crank everytime,Just to stall out again,Unless I accelerate,And keep it above 5-600 RPM.
In the begining, It only done this when I first started it for that day,Then it seemed to run fine. Gradually,It has gotten worse. It now will stall at traffic lights, unless I press the accelerator while it is stopped at a traffic stop.If it does stall ,I can immediatly start it,and it will run,as long as I....Yep, Give it gas.

Does this sound like a problem anyone has had? Any suggestions on what I should do before I take it to the dealership for service? The check engine light is not on either.
Anything I should clean, change, or check Before the dealership gets ahold of me?!?! LOL

PS Would plugs or wires cause it to stall after it starts,But let it start everytime? Just an after thought.
I appreciate any advice or ideas you may have,
Thanks

Re: Engine Starts,Stalls Immediatly

sounds like it might be a very easy fix. Repalce the "IAC" motor (Idle Air Control). These are classic symptoms of a bad IAC. I respectfully suggest that you get ONLY a NAPA or Ford (Motorcraft) OE replacement, believe me there IS a difference in quality.

Re: Engine Starts,Stalls Immediatly

Dear Sir,
I respectfully THANKYOU!!!!

Went to Napa, Got the part, Took 10 minutes to put it on, And she started right up!!!
Really made my day...

Thanks for sharing your knowledge...
My wife says she would kiss you if you were here, as she drives the truck.
Have a great weekend!
