Just switch to synthetic. It doesn’t matter if you haven’t run it before.

So who here uses synthetic? How does it treat your DSM? I currently have a ford taurus GL, no DSM... but BUT I will be getting 1G AWD Turbo this summer (hopefuly, got my fingers crossed). The taurus is almost 210k, it still runs quiet, still pulls and has nice milage, despite the milage. I can't wait to get a DSM I wana keep her close to my heart... so how's synthetic oil on them anyone use em? How long did you manage?

here is what i was told

I was told that you should break in the car with normal oil, then switch to the synth stuff. but if you have lots and lots of miles on your car then you shouldn't switch for it would cause the seals to open up.
that is what i was told

well it can wash the crud out that could be sealing a leak, but a leak is a leak and shouldn't be there crud or not. Plus syn is better for your engine. The breaking in thing is true too.
