Dash Lights unique Problem
97 Regal GS dash lights stopped working replace push/pull switch never helped fuse is good too when the alarm acivates i see the dash lights flash bulbs are good.. is there a resistor or something that would cause this Car has 172000 miles..Its been around the block a few times

On the rear of the instrument cluster is a PNP transistor which is used to control instrument panel illumination (as well as the remote switches for wipers, lights, HVAC controls, radio dimming, etc.). This transistor switches all the load so that the thumbwheel lamp dimmer control does not have to carry the full electrical load and fail prematurely. You may have to pull the cluster to take a look.
